<p>We are looking for a dynamic, visionary, CDL Training Manager to build and develop our proposed CDL program. Knowledge of the Ohio Department of Public Safety guidelines and the required reporting is critical for this role. The proposed CDL Program will be a brand-new program built from the ground up. The Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center is dedicated to the success of the program and is excited to get it started. Please see the job description for specific details and requirements needed for this position. The anticipated start date for this position is August of 2025. This will be a full-time 220 day position with benefits.</p> <p>Title: Adult Career Center CDL Program Developer/ Training Manager</p> <p>Salary Rate: As per salary schedule</p> <p>Reports to: Adult Education Director</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Retirement: STRS/SERS</p> <p>Job Objective: Oversees and coordinates the Adult Education CDL Program. Helps students make appropriate choices about career training available through the Adult Education Department.</p> <p>Required</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid state department of education license/certificate appropriate for the position. </li><li>Meets all mandated health requirements. </li><li>A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. </li><li>Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies. </li><li>Keeps current with technology and other workplace innovations that support job functions. </li><li>CDL Instructor experience (3 years) and Training Manager Credential. </li><li>Commitment to keep current with occupational trends and skills deemed essential by employers. </li><li>Ability to obtain appropriate community job training/placement sites for program participants. </li></ul> <p>Essential</p> <p>Functions:</p> <p>The following are typical work responsibilities. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with a disability to perform essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Completes and submits all required paperwork to assure that the program is approved by all external agencies and complies with Ohio Department of Transportation requirements. </li><li>Willing and qualified to function as the Ohio Department of Public Safety Authorizing Official. </li><li>Prepares outline of the program, sets course goals and provides technical assistance with equipment and processes. </li><li>Teaches courses as needed. </li><li>Schedules and trains part-time teachers for classroom duties and monitors teacher performance in the classroom. </li><li>Recruits qualified adults. Actively participates in activities to promote programs including submitting Social Media information to the District Marketing Director, appropriate news articles about the program and attending appropriate marketing events. </li><li>Provides services that facilitate the identification of job opportunities, placement services, and employee advancement. </li><li>Upholds board policies and follows administrative guidelines/procedures. Promotes a professional image of the career center. Encourages community partnerships that enhance career center programs. </li><li>Promotes effective communications and assistance. Uses problem-solving techniques to tactfully address questions/concerns. Refers policy interpretation inquiries to administrative staff. </li><li>Works with business leaders, employment services, unions, and other community resources to facilitate participation externships and post completion placement opportunities. </li><li>Conducts intake interviews for potential students for the program to provide them with information to assist them in decision making including expectations, job opportunities and serves as a resource for all student questions. </li><li>Encourages students to consider a full range of career options. </li><li>Provides counseling and training services that help displaced/disadvantaged workers overcome employment barriers. </li><li>Helps participants with job searches. </li><li>Facilitates training and job placement activities (e.g., participant placements, application/interview processes, workplace adaptations, job coaching, progress reports, retention activities, etc.). </li><li>Identifies and secures community-based employment sites. </li><li>Supports an inclusive educational environment. Serves as a resource to instructors. Facilitates the participation of individuals with disabilities in appropriate activities. </li><li>Recruits and conducts initial screening for potential instructors for modules/courses in the program. Refers appropriate candidates to Director for additional screening and completion of employment process. </li><li>Submits equipment, consumable supplies, and book orders to adult education secretary in a timely manner to ensure student access to materials and textbooks at the beginning of the program. </li><li>Updates Adult Education Director of challenges, changes in the job market and other external events/forces that may affect the effective delivery and positive outcomes for the program. </li><li>Communicates expectations and shows an active interest in participants' progress. </li><li>Facilitates self-reliance, problem-solving, critical-thinking, creativity, and performance skills. </li><li>Upholds the student conduct code. Implements effective pupil management procedures. Maintains a positive learning environment. Helps participants understand academic objectives, behavioral standards, and performance expectations. </li><li>Maintains accurate records and submits reports on time. </li><li>Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information. </li><li>Promotes the proper use, care, and security of school property. </li><li>Take precautions to ensure safety. Monitors situations that may indicate a problem. Provides appropriate student supervision. Works with supervisors to manage and eliminate risk factors. </li><li>Reports suspected child abuse and/or neglect to civil authorities as required by law. </li><li>Participates in staff meetings, conferences, and other required school activities. </li><li>Encourages and supports school-sponsored activities. </li><li>Pursues growth opportunities that enhance personal performance and advance career center goals. </li><li>Strives to develop rapport and serves as a positive role model for others. </li><li>Provides prompt notification of absences. Ensures that student lists and teaching materials are readily available for substitutes. </li><li>Maintains a professional appearance.
