<p>Hiring Rate: $74,536.00/Flat Rate</p> <p>The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a comprehensive interagency program that supports infants and children with developmental delays in their efforts to realize their full potential. It reduces the likelihood of delays among at-risk children, assists and empowers families to meet their child's and their own needs, and entitles children, regardless of race, ethnicity or income to services through the program. The EIP is legally mandated under Title II-A, 2552, of Article 25 of the NYS PHL to ensure that eligible children receive therapeutic services as soon as possible, and it has been recognized as an essential service during COVID-19 by NYS.</p> <p>The process of getting children to services includes processing referrals to the EIP, scheduling evaluations and Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings, convening IFSP meetings, and authorizing services. Children continue to receive IFSP meetings every six (6) months for as long as they are in the Program. The Bureau of Early Intervention oversees provision of therapeutic services to 30,000 children ages birth to 3 years each year. At the borough level, contracted service agencies are monitored by the Regional Office. The Assistant Data Analyst will report to the Assistant Director of the Research and Analysis Unit and be responsible for developing and running routine and ad hoc data reports.</p> <p>DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:</p> <p>Learn EI program operations as they pertain to this role.</p> <p>Learn both the front and back ends of the EI-Hub data management system including the relational table structure, commonly used tables and fields, and approaches for investigating new inquiries.</p> <p>With increasing independence, write, execute, and troubleshoot analyses in both SAS and R and call and write macros, match and merge data, and clean and prepare tables for analysis in both SAS and R.</p> <p>Output accurate, well-formatted and completely documented reports.</p> <p>Accurately and comprehensively carry out quality assurance and data management activities including copying and pasting data between two data systems, compiling data from multiple sources into clean and actionable spreadsheets, manual cleaning of free text data fields, manual review of matches, address verification, repetitive production of standardized reports, etc.</p> <p>Produce data visualization products including slides, dashboards and maps.</p> <p>Provide administrative and research support to the Director of Research and Analysis, including completing administrative paperwork (e.g., emergency contact lists, requests for office supplies, travel requests and justifications), taking and distributing meeting minutes, orienting new staff to Data Unit roles and functions, searching the internet, carrying out ad hoc investigations, preparing IRB materials, conducting literature reviews, and drafting, reviewing and editing written materials.</p> <p>Provide ad hoc support to and coverage for other Data Unit members</p> <p>PREFERRED SKILLS:</p> <p>Proficiency in the use of SAS for data management and statistical analysis</p> <p>Experience in the use of R preferred</p> <p>Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills</p> <p>Attention to detail</p> <p>Strong conceptual thinking and the ability to quickly learn a complex new content area</p> <p>Organizational and time-management skills and ability to work independently</p> <p>Proven ability to work collaboratively</p> <p>An interest in and familiarity with the Early Intervention Program</p> <p>A commitment to promoting equitable access to Early Intervention services</p> <p>Why you should work for us:</p> <ul> <li>Benefits: City employees are entitled to unmatched benefits such as: </li></ul> <p>o a premium-free health insurance plan that saves employees over $10K annually, per a 2024 assessment.</p> <p>o additional health, fitness, and financial benefits may be available based on the position's associated union/benefit fund.</p> <p>o a public sector defined benefit pension plan with steady monthly payments in retirement.</p> <p>o a tax-deferred savings program and</p> <p>o a robust Worksite Wellness Program that offers resources and opportunities to keep you healthy while serving New Yorkers.</p> <ul> <li>Work From Home Policy: Depending on your position, you may be able to work up to two days during the week from home. </li><li>Job Security - you could enjoy more job security compared to private sector employment and be able to contribute to making NYC a healthy place to live and work. </li></ul> <p>Established in 1805, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health Department) is the oldest and largest health department in the U.S., dedicated to protecting and improving the health of NYC. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in "2" above.
