<p>School Counselor JobID: 6086</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Elementary Teaching/Counselor</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>11/25/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>River Birch Elementary</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>01/06/2026</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Until Filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Title of Position: School Counselor</p> <p>Primary Job Functions: The school counselor's primary role is to build relationships with students and families.</p> <p>Salary Lane: $54,000- $98,400 (Pro-Rated for 25-26 School Year)</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Assigned Workday Calendar: 185 Days (Pro-Rated for 25-26 School Year)</p> <p>Job Status: Full Time</p> <p>Schedule: Monday - Friday</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>Teaching positions are eligible for medical and dental insurance as well as supplemental benefits such as vision, life insurance, disability, etc. Provided long-term disability, TRF, 401(a) Retirement.</p> <p>Paid Time Off Benefits: 9 sick days/ 4 personal days (Pro-Rated for 25-26 School Year)</p> <p>Holiday Pay: Not Eligible</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Master's Degree </li><li>Certification: valid Indiana Student Services License </li><li>Experience: Previous teaching and or counseling experience is preferred but not required </li><li>Skills and Knowledge: </li><li>Other: Ability to maintain a positive relationship with pupils, staff, parents, and the community </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Address the academic, social/emotional, college and career needs of all students </li><li>Follow the guidelines set by the comprehensive Avon Counselor Leadership Team (ACLT) program, which is proactive and preventive in its focus </li><li>Working with students in the classroom, small groups and individually, appropriate to the developmental level, to help ensure wellness, maximum learning, achievement, and growth </li><li>Can deliver individual and/or group counseling as appropriate. </li><li>Is an active collaborative member of the district's school counseling team. </li><li>Intentional in meeting the needs of the individual students and demonstrating progress through data driven results. </li><li>Be an advocate for student </li><li>Orientation and enrollment </li><li>Testing activities and test interpretation </li><li>Scheduling and educational program planning </li><li>Career awareness and exploration </li><li>Provide student evaluation and recommendations </li><li>Provide social/emotional short-term counseling </li><li>Crisis intervention </li><li>Participate and or serve as the PAR for case conferences and serve as the case manager for 504s as appropriate </li><li>Provide district and community resources to families including making referrals for special education. Maintain logs of referrals to service providers, and other counseling related activities </li><li>Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators on behalf of students' welfare, providing necessary resources and services </li><li>Provide academic counseling </li><li>Gather and communicate information regarding high school programs, graduation requirements, tests, and results, career and postsecondary educational opportunities </li><li>Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for students. Project a genuine care and concern for all students. </li><li>Other duties assigned by the principal and or district supervisor </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
