They accomplish this by gathering information about users' needs, identifying solutions, facilitating the implementation, support, training, and ongoing resources needed to meet those needs.</p> <p>The IT Network Engineer installs, maintains, and evaluates network systems and unified communications. This position is responsible for new and existing network systems and services, including local and wide area networks, intranets, unified communication systems, and the Internet. This position provides analytical, technical, and administrative support for moderately complex issues and problems associated with network infrastructure and unified telecommunications.</p> <p>This is a full-time, exempt, on-site/hybrid position. Interviews will take place the week of September 8, 2025, for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.</p> <p>Pay & Benefits</p> <ul> <li> <p>Salary: $74,214.40 to $89,065.60 ($35.68 to $42.82 per hour)</p> </li><li> <p>2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 34: $74,214.40 to $103,896 ($35.68 to $49.95 per hour)</p> </li><li> <p>24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 12.5 paid holidays.</p> </li><li> <p>Comprehensive insurance, including medical, dental, vision, flex benefits and more at www.anokacountymn.gov/benefits.</p> </li><li> <p>Medical and dental clinic exclusive to employees, located at the Anoka County Government Center.</p> </li><li> <p>Pension plan and other retirement investment options.</p> </li><li> <p>Advancement/professional development opportunities.</p> </li></ul> <p>Work Location</p> <ul> <li> <p>This position will work at Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303.</p> </li><li> <p>This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.</p> </li><li> <p>General work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Network Engineer.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Install, maintain, and evaluate Anoka County's network infrastructure.</p> </li><li> <p>Troubleshoot network issues involving various factors.</p> </li><li> <p>Install, maintain and administer unified communications systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Support and maintain analog voice environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Support and install video conferencing hardware and software in conference rooms.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with vendors to maintain and upgrade county copper and fiber cabling infrastructure.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain network devices including the restoration of hardware and software.</p> </li><li> <p>Mitigate potential attacks through network or other connections to ensure the security of the system.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform configuration changes to the network environment in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure network integrity as maintenance and modification projects to existing applications are undertaken.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor network performance to ensure optimal utilization and actively resolve issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with end users to resolve network hardware and software issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Administer end user training to achieve efficient utilization of LAN/WAN. Review progress and evaluate results.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain standardized policies, procedures, and training plans for network administration and disaster recovery.</p> </li><li> <p>Act as a point of escalation and resolve network problems, create reports, and ensure optimal utilization of the products.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications and Requirements:</p> <p>Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed</p> <ul> <li> <p>Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of job-related experience.</p> </li><li> <p>In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.</p> </li><li> <p>Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship, including F-1 STEM OPT extensions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work occasional after-hours/weekends and participate in an after-hours emergency on-call rotation.</p> </li><li> <p>Successfully pass a BCA background check.</p> </li><li> <p>Successfully pass driver's license background check.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed</p> <ul> <li> <p>Degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology or related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Possess industry related certifications such as ITIL and CCNA.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with products, protocols, and concepts including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless and UC.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of networking protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, WLAN, VLAN, DCI, NAT, QoS, VPN, IPSEC, VoIP, SSL/TLS, and copper and fiber cabling standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of diagnostic tools and methodologies for troubleshooting network issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to apply effective analytical methods to existing and new applications.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands and Work Conditions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Standard office environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades and brightness.</p> </li><li> <p>Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Cognitive abilities required include problem solving, prioritization of tasks, short- and long-term memory, interpreting and understanding written documents, and general mathematical skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Assignments may require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, or walking/standing to assist county employees.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical activity may include repeated bending, stooping, reaching, frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work, and occasionally pushing carts to transport equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Regular lifting of 20-50 lbs. while moving materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment in addition to IT maintenance equipment depending on assignment.</p> </li><li> <p>IT maintenance equipment may include but is not limited to hand and power tools, electrical and electronic installation and testing tools/instruments, and personal protective equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.</p> </li><li> <p>Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock, airborne particles, prolonged vibration from machinery, and other hazards is possible while performing essential duties.</p> </li><li> <p>Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.</p> </li></ul> <p>Selection Process</p> <p>It is important that your application show all the relevant education and experience you possess.
