<p>Under general supervision, coordinates projects and supervises assigned staff in the design, maintenance, and installation of infrastructure to support the Washoe County Regional Communications System (WCRCS) and Washoe County Radio Shop; and performs related work as assigned.</p> <p>This is an Open Competitive/Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a current full-time vacancy in the Technology Services department. To meet this mission, Technology Services created a technology plan focused on enhanced citizen experience, operational effectiveness, cybersecurity, and business continuity. The plan is aligned with the County's priorities and to the County's vision to be the social, economic, and policy leader in the region. </p> <p>Technology Services is made up of four divisions with 92 employees: Business Systems and Integration (BSI), Regional Services (RS), Client Engagement and Experience (CEE), and Customer and Enterprise Solutions (CES). This position works with all divisions on projects for 30 departments with 3,000 internal employees and many external constituents.</p> <p>Technology Services provides and promotes a flexible work environment, highly desirable employee benefits package, strategic business partnership, and team-oriented culture. </p> <p>Please note: Effective July 14, 2025, Washoe County salary schedules and pay rates will be reduced by 1.625% (Regular Members) or 4.375% (Police/Fire Members) due to the PERS contribution rate increase.</p> <p>For more information on this position, please see the Job Specification at https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/washoecountyFour years of progressively responsible experience in radio and telecommunication systems planning, installation, and maintenance, including two years of supervisory or program management experience AND a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications or a closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.</p> <p>License Or Certificate</p> <p>A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.</p> <p>The Ideal Candidate Will</p> <ul> <li>Have Professional Engineer license (Electrical and Computer - Electrical and Electronics), preferred. </li><li>Demonstrate commitment to public service and value exceptional customer service. </li><li>Have strong experience in both project and personnel management, specifically within public safety radio systems. </li><li>Have experience with asset management and medium-to-long range planning for asset maintenance and replacement. </li><li>Strong experience working with and coordinating external customers and stakeholders. </li><li>Have a deep understanding of Land Mobile Radio System operations and maintenance including microwave backhaul systems, IP networking, P25 technology standards, and electrical systems. </li><li>Have outstanding written and oral communication skills. </li><li>Have the ability to build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with County and partner stakeholders. </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to take ownership of problems to find solutions; share resources, information and knowledge; and encourage commitment to the County's mission and organizational goals. </li><li>Be collaborative, detail-oriented, and hardworking, who can manage the finer details without losing sight of the bigger picture. </li></ul> <p>The Washoe County Employees Association (WCEA) Supervisory Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) covers the Regional Communications Coordinator position.</p> <p>Background checks will be conducted on selected applicants through the State of Nevada and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).</p> <p>Per the Washoe County Background and Reference Checks Policy, new and rehired employees are required to submit to a fingerprint based background investigation. Effective January 1, 2025, the $39.00 fee associated with this background investigation will be paid by the employee (if applicable) and deducted automatically from the first paycheck. Employment is contingent upon the results of the background check, although a record of conviction will not necessarily bar an applicant from employment.</p> <p>Washoe County requires its employees to reside in the state of Nevada or neighboring California communities such as Truckee, South Lake Tahoe or Susanville as of their first day of work.</p> <p>Washoe County hires all new employees at the minimum rate of the salary range and eligible employees may receive an annual merit increase of 5% until they reach the maximum salary for the classification. Upon promotion, current Washoe County employees are placed at the minimum rate of the salary range for the higher classification of the new position OR a promotional calculation, whichever is greater.
