<p>Under general supervision, the Swim Instructor is responsible for providing swim lessons to students of all levels and abilities based on the American Red Cross (ARC) Learn-to-Swim standards and program requirements.</p> <ul> <li>The Swim Instructor reports to the Recreation Programs Supervisor. </li><li>This position supervises patrons in group activities, but does not exercise supervision over other staff members. </li></ul> <p>Instruct patrons in the specialized recreational activity of swim lessons.</p> <p>Interact with patrons.</p> <p>Perform other related job duties as assigned.</p> <p>Ability to: </p> <ul> <li>Effectively teach. </li><li>Follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public. </li><li>Distinguish varying levels of cleanliness and take necessary measures to ensure a clean environment (i.e. mopping, sweeping, hosing down, shoveling, window cleaning, vacuuming, polishing tables, etc.). </li><li>Possess physical conditioning required to perform duties as an instructor in the specialized recreational activity. All instructor positions require the ability to effectively lead citizens in a comprehensive workout in the appropriate category. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Age Requirement:</p> <p>Must be 15 years of age or older.</p> <p>License/Certification:</p> <ul> <li>Current CPR certification. </li><li>Current First Aid certification. </li><li>Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification. </li></ul> <p>Experience Required:</p> <ul> <li>Any combination of education, training, and experience that would provide necessary instruction skills and expertise in area of instruction. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:  </p> <p>Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, twist, and grasp; work with hands above shoulder height with up to 40 lbs.; work with arms extended at shoulder height with up to 20 lbs.; and lift or carry 50 lbs. or less and push and/or pull heavy weights (over 75 lb. weights) on a regular basis.</p> <p> </p> <p>Applicants who are offered employment are required to pass a comprehensive law enforcement background investigation (including FBI fingerprint check), job-related physical exam, drug screening test and driver license check.</p> <p>The City of Green River is an EEO/ADA employer and a smoke-free workplace per City ordinance.</p>
