We offer comprehensive services for people suffering from mental and addictive disorders. A full range of psychiatric disorders are treated from depression and bipolar disorder to schizophrenia as well as addictive behaviors stemming from drug and alcohol use. Position Summary: Performs general patient care such as, hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and increased/constant observation in a basic role with the guidance and mentoring of the Registered Nurse. Responsibilities • Provides routine treatments and interventions consistent with the educational level and skills learned in the academic environment and demonstrated competency through Orlando Health. • Performs advanced skills after achievement of demonstrated competencies such as: nasogastric tube irrigation, suctioning, and removal; wound irrigation; complex dressing change without packing of wounds; maintenance of enteral tube feeding (Dobhoff, Nasogastric, and Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy); and tracheostomy care. • Performs increase or continuous visual observation for Baker Act, behavioral health and suicide risk patients as assigned. • Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs. • Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other members of the healthcare team. • Utilizes the Safe Patient Room Environment Checklist with change of staff or transfer of care as part of handoff for Baker Act, behavioral health, and suicide risk patients. • Assures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality. • Follows standard precautions. Adheres to Hand Hygiene and PPE procedures. • Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient's condition to the registered nurse (RN) and other members of the healthcare team. • Participates in handoff report and purposeful hourly rounding on patients. • Documents information according to Orlando Health specific policies and guidelines. • Transports and assists patientsthrough the admission and discharge process. Transports Baker Act, behavioral health and suicide risk patients to diagnostic testing and procedures. • Maintains a safe and clean environment. • Provides exceptional service and or care to all patients, families, customers, and team members. • Transports and delivers items, equipment, blood products and medications (excluding substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility. • Receives and processes incoming calls, patient calls and guest requests. • May have limited access to areas storing medications. • Provides exceptional service and or care to all patients, families, customers, and team members. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Qualifications Education/Training • Nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program at a college or university. • Must have completed a minimum of one semester of nursing clinical rotations. • Proof of continued enrollment in accredited pre-licensure, professional nursing program with no break in enrollment to exceed one year. Licensure/Certification Maintains current BLS/Healthcare provider certification.
