We learn, grow, and achieve more - in our careers and in our communities.</p> <p>Job Description Summary:</p> <p>This position coordinates the intern's assignment, communications for Emergency Department Attending and Hospital Attending Physicians, central communications for the Nursing staff. He/She acts as liaison for outside hospitals for assigning Attending Physicians, Emergency Department Representative for incoming calls from families and former patients. The ED Admin Specialist coordinates patient activities in the Emergency Department, including: medical record management, order management, admissions, registration, scheduling, unit logistics and administration. This position also performs miscellaneous duties in a fast-paced, critical environment.</p> <p>Responsibilities And Duties:</p> <p>35%</p> <p>Operations and Order Management: Enters Physician's orders department order s into clinical information system. Processes all "STAT" and "Now" orders immediately upon receipt and enters appropriate nursing orders into EMStat for nursing notification. Notifies and coordinates "STAT" testing and procedures with correct departments. Coordinates time constrained testing and scheduling with hospital departments. Schedules patient appointments. Works directly with Hospital Triage Nurses to coordinate bed assignment of monitored and critical beds. Ensures acquisition and maintenance of appropriate supplies and chart forms for providing patient care.</p> <p>20%</p> <p>E. D. Attending Physician's Administrative Assistant duties: Serves as primary communication between hospital and non-hospital Attending Physicians, Hospital Residents and Interns, and Emergency Department Attending Physicians, facilitating decision-making for patient care and admission decisions. Maintains record of on-call Attending/Resident coverage e for immediate access to correct Physician in critical situations. Maintains record of calls placed and received. Obtains Medical Records from Physician's office and outlying hospitals and patient care facilities for Emergency Department Physicians.</p> <p>20%</p> <p>Management of House Staff and Admissions: Assigns admitted patients both Emergency Department and directly admitted patient s to Hospital Intern Physicians to perform history and physical, and write admission orders. Responsible for notifying Hospital Resident Physicians of admissions. Maintains daily record of on-call schedule of House Staff Physicians and Trauma Staff for consultations and makes administrative decisions concerning assignment as Patient conditions change to facilitate appropriate patient care. Maintains record of assignments of Physicians and room assignments in EMStat in appropriate patient record.</p> <p>20%</p> <p>Liaison for Emergency Department and outlying facilities: Acts as Liaison for Emergency Department patients, visitors, and incoming callers in absence of Patient Relation Representative. Connects callers with appropriate staff members, takes messages and communicates information within boundaries and confidentiality. Assists Emergency Department staff and hospital staff with informational needs. Answers high volumes of calls and directs calls appropriately, if unable to resolve caller needs. Acts as information center/clearing house for patient transfers to Riverside. Informs callers of appropriate Attending Physician to contact for acceptance of patient to service. Directs calls appropriately from hospital departments/Physicians to Nursing staff/E. D. Attending concerning testing and results of such testing in timely manner.</p> <p>5%</p> <p>Leadership: Participates in development of self and peers. Participates in specialized staff meetings. Initiates and completes specialized projects to benefit patient care process. Participates in process improvement activities to achieve targeted measures of clinical quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>High School or GED (Required)</p> <p>Additional Job Description:</p> <p>High school Diploma or General Diploma (GED).
