<p>Are you prepared to ignite change and transform lives in the field of special education? Leap into an exciting opportunity as a full-time Mental Health Professional at May Center for Early Intervention in West Springfield, MA.</p> <p>The Mental Health Professional works under the Early Intervention Program Director as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services to children birth to three years of age in a family-centered program.</p> <p>The Mental Health Professional works directly with the children and their families in the child's natural environment including but not limited to the child's home and/or daycare settings. They coordinate with families, multidisciplinary team members, and outside providers, as appropriate to maximize positive developmental and learning outcomes for children and families served.</p> <p>Your role in action:</p> <p>All Mental Health Professionals must meet one of the following criteria:</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of a master's degree from an accredited recognized educational institution in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, developmental psychology, or education psychology </li><li>Current licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Mental Health and Human Service Professionals </li><li>A minimum of a master's degree from an accredited recognized educational institute in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field and be "license eligible" for LMFT or LMHC with official written verification by the applicant's accredited educational institution </li></ul> <p>Technical Skills:</p> <p>Direct Service:</p> <ul> <li>Provide home and community visits to address needs related to the child and family </li><li>Participate in assessments including but not limited to the Battelle Developmental Inventory - 3rd edition </li><li>Support children and families in participating in activities with neurotypical peers in playgroups in the community </li><li>Document all services provided through progress notes </li></ul> <p>Service Coordination:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate needed supports identified by the family during Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings </li><li>Serve as a liaison between the family and ancillary providers </li><li>Ensure that all paperwork is completed in a timely manner </li><li>Lead IFSP meetings with participant from the IFSP team </li><li>Monitor status of functional outcomes and services provided </li><li>Review and modify the IFSP as needed </li><li>Review 6-month evaluations in a timely manner </li><li>Document each interaction outside of direct service with the child and family through the communication log </li><li>Assist in transition planning 6 months prior to each child's third birthday </li><li>Submit referrals to the Local Educational Agency (LEA)Attend each child's eligibility determination and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings </li></ul> <p>Other Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Complete 25 hours per week of billable activities (i.e., direct service, assessment, IFSP meetings) </li><li>Participate in weekly staff meetings and monthly staff trainings </li><li>Participate in workshops and trainings required by the Department of Public Health (DPH) </li></ul>
