<p>Assistant Superintendent Nicholas County Schools JobID: 44702</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Administration (Educator)/Superintendent</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>6/4/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Nicholas County BOE Personnel</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>07/01/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>6/10/2025 by 4:00 PM</p> <p>County:</p> <p>  Nicholas County Schools  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>POSITION: Assistant Superintendent</p> <p>LOCATION: Nicholas County Schools- Central Office</p> <p>TERM: 26 l Days annually</p> <p>SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code l 8-A-4-2, in accordance with Nicholas County Teacher Salary Schedule, approved supplemental schedule, commensurate with experience and education level as established by the Nicholas County Board of Education.</p> <p>EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent and in accordance with WV Code 18A-2-12, State Board Policy 5310 and Nicholas County Policy.</p> <p>NOTE: The assistant superintendent serves at the will and pleasure of the Superintendent pursuant to WV Code 18A-2-l(b).</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications & Preferred Experience</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of five (5) years of administrative, supervisory, and leadership experience, with school level administrative and Central Office experience within a school district preferred. </li><li>A minimum of a master's degree in education, Educational Leadership, or a related field is required. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with district leadership, school administrators, and stakeholders to support the Superintendent's vision and implement Board of Education policies. </li><li>Proven written and oral communication skills necessary for maintaining strong relationships with school personnel, community partners, and external agencies. </li><li>Documented experience managing and/or knowledge of key district operational areas, including personnel, policies and procedures and appropriate code and laws. </li><li>Documented ability to lead and support data-driven decision-making to guide the employment and retention of personnel, necessary termination and transfer of personnel, and certification. </li><li>Meet all West Virginia Code requirements and hold or be eligible for superintendent administrative certification. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Personnel Generally</p> <ul> <li>Ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws, policies, and regulations affecting public education personnel. </li><li>Knowledge of personnel laws including performance standards and evaluation of all school and county level personnel. </li><li>Knowledge of certification rules and regulations for WV Schools including but not limited to requirements for initial and ongoing certification of professional and service personnel. </li><li>Knowledge of the Grievance procedure for professional and service personnel. </li></ul> <p>Leadership & Management Skills</p> <ul> <li>Ability to build and lead a highly functional personnel office, fostering collaboration across offices to achieve district personnel goals. </li><li>Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex challenges. </li><li>Significant skill in directing the work of others, managing personnel effectively, and resolving conflicts constructively. </li><li>Demonstrated success as a strong and visionary leader, capable of inspiring and guiding diverse stakeholders. </li><li>Ability to promote positive staff morale and a culture of continuous professional growth. </li></ul> <p>Communication & Community Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage multiple and diverse constituencies. </li><li>Ability to interpret, analyze, and present data and personnel needs in a clear and understandable manner to school personnel and the public. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with students, staff, families, and the broader school community. </li><li>Capacity to facilitate collaborative partnerships with parents, community organizations, and businesses. </li><li>Ability to support the community through attendance at community events and evening activities. </li></ul> <p>Other Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing priorities. </li><li>Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to assess situations accurately and implement effective solutions. </li></ul> <p>Required for ALL applicants:</p> <ul> <li>Application </li><li>Copy of West Virginia Certifications </li><li>Resume including references </li><li>Reference letters (minimum of two within the last two years) </li><li>Copies of past two evaluations </li><li>Application Disclaimer </li></ul> <p>The preceding job description indicates the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
