Interested applicants must apply online by visiting the Denver Public Schools job board at careers.dpsk12.org.</p> <p>About this job:</p> <p>The Emergency Management Specialist assists with the development, implementation, compliancy and training for the District's Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). This plan includes schools as well as non-school facilities. This position requires independent discretion and the ability to quickly and accurately address questions regarding emergency preparedness and its practical applications across the District.</p> <p>What DPS Offers You:</p> <ul> <li>A Culture that values Equity, Accountability, Integrity, Collaboration and Fun with a shared vision that Every Learner Thrives. </li><li>Salary Range. $55,099 - $66,119 annually Click here for more information on compensation for these roles. </li><li>In addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other Total Reward offerings such as; time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA Retirement. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Maintains current knowledge of emergency response and procedures as well as District policies to ensure District is a leader in K-12 education, reviews District-wide Emergency Management training materials and provides feedback for annual updates. Supervises/assists in the production and distribution of various publications (e.g. training manuals, classroom guides, videos) </li><li>Responsible for subject matter expertise regarding security technology placement, training and implementation in all district owned properties and critical incident response and family reunification </li><li>Maintains District inventory of Emergency Management supplies and associated budget recommendations, reviews and updates Safety website to provide needed content to our stakeholders </li><li>Schedules, logs and conducts Emergency Management drill observations at each school on an annual basis per BOE policy KDE. Provides school leaders and staff members' feedback on performance during the drill to include what went well and what needs improvement </li><li>Schedules logs and conducts annual school based emergency team trainings, CPR and AED training for department and other district stakeholders and other training based on the needs of the district or the department (e.g. tactical combat casualty care, first aid, customized emergency management training etc.) </li><li>Ensures districtwide compliance with required emergency operations plan completion and submission, maintains emergency notification systems and programs to ensure accuracy during critical incidents, and is responsible for a working knowledge of emergency notification systems and procedures for use during critical incidents </li><li>Must be self-directed and possess the ability to work independently. </li><li>Fifty percent of time will be spent in schools advising school leaders on emergency preparedness practices and troubleshooting specific issues to their building and demographics </li><li>Manages the day-to-day tracking of the District's Emergency. Management compliance, works closely and effectively with all members of the Department of Safety, its partners and stakeholders </li><li>Coordinates division projects at the direction of the Manager, such as emergency notification systems, security assessments, AED's, district wide training to name a few </li><li>All positions in the Department of Climate and Safety are subject to recall responsibilities in the event of a district related emergency and this position may require irregular work hours to accommodate duties related to this job description </li><li>Schedules and trains district staff in a variety of areas to include, CPR/AED, casualty care, family reunification </li><li>Responsible for effective district wide communication during critical incidents </li><li>Participates In, but not limited to: </li><li>District wide Emergency management training </li><li>District wide CPR/AED training </li><li>District wide security technology placement </li><li>Training and implementation </li><li>District wide Emergency drill observation, compliance and training </li><li>District wide distribution of training materials </li></ul> <p>What You'll Need:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum Associate's or relevant work experience </li><li>Bachelor's Degree preferred </li><li>3+ Experience in Safety or emergency management </li><li>NIMS IS100 and IS200 Required </li><li>Effective time management and organizational skills </li><li>Knowledge with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook </li><li>Effective communication skills </li><li>Strong attention to detail </li><li>Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines </li><li>The ability to take responsibility for one's own performance </li><li>Work collaboratively with others on a team </li><li>Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and fast-paced environment </li><li>Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills.
