Ophthalmic Assistants provide vision care under the supervision of a licensed ophthalmologist and assist with taking patient histories, performing diagnostic tests and procedures, patient scheduling, and exam room preparation.</p> <p>A caregiver in this position works 7:30AM - 5:00PM.</p> <p>A caregiver who excels in this role will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Receive and prepare patients for examination or treatment.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform initial patient examinations, ophthalmic testing procedures and routine screening tests.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist physicians with examinations and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Document patient information in their medical record.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform clerical, stocking, maintenance and related duties.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school diploma or GED.</p> </li><li> <p>One year of experience in an ophthalmic setting providing direct patient care. Additional formal education or training in ophthalmology may substitute for some or all of the required experience.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of medical terminology.</p> </li><li> <p>Prior experience in a healthcare setting in a patient-facing role.</p> </li><li> <p>Prior experience documenting exam findings in Epic.</p> </li><li> <p>Exam workup experience in Ophthalmology.</p> </li><li> <p>Refraction, tonometry, visual field and OCT testing skills.</p> </li></ul> <p>Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
