<p>Classification</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Minimum Pay</p> <p>$19.58</p> <p>Compensation will be commensurate with the level of the position, education, and experience.</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY</p> <p>Will ensure proper maintenance of assigned college grounds to reflect a positive image of the College. Will maintain an attractive, pleasant, and safe external environment at the College.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Cares for campus flowers and ornamental shrub beds. Assists in the installation of, and proper care of, new and existing plant materials. </li><li>Perform ground maintenance of College property such as mowing lawns, trimming shrubs and snow removal, to keep grounds hazard-free and attractive. </li><li>Perform landscaping duties such as pruning of new and existing plants, installing and/or repairing retaining walls, edging, etc. </li><li>Inspect, maintain, and properly store all tools and equipment. </li><li>Repair sprinkler system as needed. </li><li>Inspect, maintain and coordinate repairs and delivery of vehicles. </li><li>Pick up litter, limbs, and debris and empty trash receptacles. </li><li>Assists in keeping street sewer drains clean. </li><li>This position is designated essential and may be called in for emergency situations, to include, but not limited to snow removal, structural failures, and natural disasters. </li><li>Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge in the use of pesticides, fungicides, turf chemicals and fertilizers. </li><li>Knowledge in lawn care and landscaping. </li><li>Skills in operation of standard lawn care equipment. </li><li>Manual dexterity and motor coordination skills to perform grounds maintenance. </li><li>Ability to lift in excess of 100 lbs. </li><li>Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, push, reach and walk to complete tasks. </li><li>Ability to drive. </li><li>Ability to handle extreme temperatures and harsh working conditions. </li><li>Ability to use a personal computer. </li><li>Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>One year of related work experience. </li><li>Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered. </li><li>Associates degree in Horticulture or related field preferred. </li><li>E.P.A. certification required. </li><li>This position is categorized as "designated", as it pertains to temporary College closures or adverse conditions. </li><li>Valid driver's license and insurability by college carrier to drive college vehicles. </li></ul> <p>The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all inclusive.
