<p>This position is a .7 FTE Under the Supervision of the Director of Student Support Services authorize resources as necessary to provide appropriate services for students with special needs. Work cooperatively with all staff, administration and parents as it pertains to the delivery of educational services to students.</p> <p>ROLE: The building team chairperson will chair all initial, re-evaluation and annual team meetings. Under supervision with the Director of Student Support Services, authorize resources as necessary to provide appropriate services for special needs students. Complete all educational evaluations for the students in assigned building. Report results of all educational evaluations at Eligibility Team Meetings. Consult with Director of Student Support Services on Special Education Referrals. Work cooperatively with all staff, administration and parents as it pertain to the delivery of edcuational services to students. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Acts as the representative to the Director of Student Support Services when chairing team meetings </li><li>Completes all Learning Evaluations within designated building </li><li>Writes assessment reports identifying student's needs and proposed treatment strategies. </li><li>Recommends and assists in transition planning or exit strategy for students when goals and objectives have been achieved </li><li>Provides interpretation and summaries of assessment report results to families </li><li>Consults with other members of the education team regarding needed services for the student to make effective progress within the least restrictive environment. </li><li>Determine eligibility for Special Education, 504 possiblity or Finding of No Eligibility </li><li>Process all paperwork generated at team meetings </li><li>Be a liaison to parents regarding their questions on meeting times, testing, eligibility, and/or regulatory questions </li><li>Works positively and collaboratively with a wide range of staff and parents </li><li>Meet weekly with the Director of Student Support Services to discuss and review new referrals to determine needed assessments </li><li>Schedule all Annual IEP meetings in September and complete the parent notice of meeting time and provide this notice to liaisons to send home to parents </li><li>Take necessary steps for meetings and evaluations to stay within the DESE timeline regulations </li><li>Keeps self-updated on the identification, assessment, and diagnosis techniques, therapeutic procedures, and statutory requirements of IDEA. </li><li>Maintains professional competence through readings, attendance at conferences, workshops, memberships in professional organizations and other relevant activities in accordance with district guidelines. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li>Holds a valid Massachusetts DESE License in an education-related field </li><li>Master's degree in an education-related field </li><li>Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge in educational diagnostic assessment 4. Possesses the ability to analyze a student's needs for special education services effectively </li><li>Has strong interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Possesses a strong understanding of the state and federal special education regulations. </li><li>Highly organized </li><li>Strong facilitation skills to chair team meetings and resolve conflict, when necessary </li></ol>
