<p>Perform a variety of special cleaning operations to preserve and maintain floors and other surfaces and perform special project operations.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <p>The ability to read, write and follow instructions is required.</p> <p>At least 1 year experience in janitorial work is required.</p> <p>Knowledge of cleaning products and their use and proper operation of equipment is required.</p> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <p>A valid driver's license and Syracuse Driver Safety Program is required. Use of Departmental Radio is required</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Strip, scrub, wax and polish floors of various compositions.</p> <p>Shampoo rugs.</p> <p>Scrub drained pools.</p> <p>Screen and apply finish to gym floors; floor line maintenance.</p> <p>Mix cleaning solutions, empty and flush tanks.</p> <p>Lubricate machines and adjust for proper operation.</p> <p>Move furniture.</p> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>| • Standing 85% - 90% of the shift</p> <ul> <li>Frequent bending at the waist; able to bend to below the knee (80 - 90% of shift) </li><li>Frequent stooping and/or crouching (65% - 95% of shift) </li><li>Frequent twisting and bending of head, neck, and torso (75 - 95% of shift) </li><li>Full range of hand, wrist and arm movement required (extension, twisting, and bending of arm and shoulder, dusting, mixing, washing, reaching overhead, etc.) (80% - 95% of shift) </li><li>Fine motor skills sufficient to us a handheld radio, phone, etc. </li><li>Visual and cognitive capability sufficient to read labels and follow instructions </li><li>Auditory ability to hear and respond to emergency calls (on phone and radio) </li><li>May be exposed to latex or rubber </li><li>Exposure to cleaning solutions </li><li>Physical strength sufficient to handle professional scrubbing machine, shampooer etc </li><li>Able to carry up to 30 lbs. on back for 6-8 hours </li><li>Able to lift up to 50 pounds to waist height </li><li>Able to push/pull items of up to 70 pounds (including e.g. furniture) </li><li>Exposure to cleaning solutions, aerosols, chemicals, dust, strong smells, organic waste etc. </li><li>Able to work in the evening and at night </li></ul> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Use a variety of soaps, cleansers, chemicals, and cleaning compounds, and other appropriate materials as needed.
