Discover your opportunities at Yale!</p> <p>Hourly Range</p> <p>$27.74</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>In 1971, Yale University established Yale Health to provide health services to its facility, staff and students through a multidisciplinary health maintenance organization located on campus. Yale Health has more than 49,000 members including students, staff, faculty and their families who come from every state in the country and almost every country in the world and is committed to an inclusive workplace. We are celebrating over 50 years of service to the Yale community. Our state-of-the-art facility at 55 Lock Street, is where our members receive most of their care from our 150+ providers. It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, an Acute Care Department, a 15-bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy.</p> <p>The Medical Assistant works as a member of the Yale Health Specialty care team by providing seamless, coordinated and compassionate care at each patient encounter.</p> <p>Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide care to patients as directed by nursing and clinician staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the clinician with the daily operations of the clinic, including support of minor surgical set up and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a comfortable, orderly, safe and clean environment for patient care.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare exam rooms. Select and organize medical supplies. Maintain medical equipment in good working order. Prepare patients for examinations.</p> </li><li> <p>Measure and record vital signs. Collect pertinent data relevant to the patient visit.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide routine information related to medical treatments and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare for next day/same day clinic by doing chart prep reviews, EMR for tests due and anticipates what patient/clinician may need.</p> </li><li> <p>Access the EMR (electronic medical record) as appropriate. Respond to tasks and messages in a timely manner. Record and report patient information.</p> </li><li> <p>Order and maintain inventory of medical supplies for the department. Restock rooms. Maintain dirty and clean utility areas.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs point of care testing, including but not limited to: ECGS, HbA1c, bladder scanner techniques, CLIA waived testing, crutch teaching, boot/brace/DME fittings and assist with sterile and aseptic procedures as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Remain current with all annual training and competencies, complete trainings in a timely manner, cross-train to other MA roles as indicated by department need; attend department and org wide in-services and trainings; organizational committee participation as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend and actively participate in all department, team and organizational meetings as indicated.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform clerical functions, prepare patient records, and provide assistance to clinicians and nursing staff in support of clinical activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide support to the front desk staff as needed. Greet patients, check demographic data, answer phones, make appointments, and route calls as appropriate.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate clearly and professionally at all times to all team members, patients, clinicians and managers.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow all departmental and organizational policies related to Specialty Services and the MA role.</p> </li></ul> <p>This is a 1-Year Fixed Duration role.</p> <p>Schedule: Full-Time - 37.50 HRS/Week; Generally scheduled M-F between 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Occasional evenings, early mornings, weekends or holidays/recess may also be required.</p> <p>Required Skills and Abilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with emphasis on customer service. Demonstrated ability to perform in high volume, stressful patient care situations.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to collaborate with providers and staff; ability to work well in teams. Excellent attendance, punctuality and reliability.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability in performing ECGS and CLIA waived testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability providing support as a medical assistant in an ambulatory care setting. Electronic Health record /EPIC proficiency.</p> </li><li> <p>Data entry skills associated with the use of computers in a clinical scheduling/electronic medical record.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Skills and Abilities</p> <p>Current BCLS certification. Experience with set up and assisting with minor surgical procedures.</p> <p>Principal Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Maintains comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean environment. 2.
