<p>POSITION DESCRIPTION: The school adjustment counselor works in a variety of capacities to meet the social/emotional and behavioral needs of all students at the school. General job duties include:</p> <ul> <li>Providing group and individual counseling services for students as assigned </li><li>Designing and delivering tiered supports and interventions </li><li>Case management services for an assigned caseload </li><li>Collaborating and consulting with teachers and related service personnel regarding strategies and interventions for students </li><li>Communication with staff and families regarding progress monitoring </li><li>Crisis intervention when needed </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provide school-based individual and small group counseling as needed through the MTSS, 504 or IEP process. </li><li>Facilitate the development of individual student behavior plans. Support staff in implementation of behavior plans. Evaluate the effectiveness of plans and make adjustments as needed. </li><li>Design and deliver tiered behavioral and social/emotional supports/interventions to students with needs as identified through the Instructional Support Team. </li><li>Serve as the school's 504 coordinator. </li><li>Act as the liaison between family, school, and, when applicable, outside medical and mental health personnel. </li><li>Provide crisis management services, including assessing for safety and processing 51A mandated reporting. </li><li>Maintain responsive lines of communication between students, families, and staff. </li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers and service providers within the school to ensure that the appropriate behavioral and social/emotional supports are in place for students. </li><li>Support staff in the implementation of the school's SEL curriculum. </li><li>Organize and lead small group lessons that focus on character development, emotional regulation, empathy, and community building. </li><li>Oversee the development and coordination of social emotional learning goals and objectives for the IEP process, when appropriate. </li><li>Support school staff in the development and implementation of individualized behavior plans. Collaborate and coordinate with administrators and staff to modify individualized behavior programming based on data. </li><li>Support staff, including new educators, in the development and continuous refinement of individual classroom management systems </li><li>Facilitate friendship groups, social skills groups and other Tier 1 supports. </li><li>Maintain confidential data on students' academic and social growth; keep appropriate records and make recommendations for services as needed. </li><li>Ensure the maintenance of timely and accurate student records. </li><li>Support student re-entry from hospitalization or long-term medical absences. </li><li>Serve on the Student Support Team (IST) and Crisis Team. Participate in data meetings aligned with the MTSS cycle. </li><li>Oversee financial assistance for student activities for families in need </li><li>Work effectively with building and district special education and related service providers: OT/PT, SLP, BCBA, School Psychologists and Adjustment Counselors </li><li>Perform other related duties as requested by the Principal. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS (Required):</p> <ul> <li>Active and valid MA DESE School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor (All Levels), School Guidance Counselor (at the appropriate level), or School Psychologist (All Levels). </li><li>Ability to navigate ADA, Massachusetts law, SPED law and district policies to ensure fidelity and compliance of IEPs and national and state law. </li><li>Excellent writing skills and proven success with FBAs and behavior intervention plans </li><li>In-depth knowledge of child development and wrap-around interventions to support students' social-emotional needs. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred):</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field </li><li>Minimum of three years professional experience </li><li>Experience using a tiered approach to support student behavior and mental health </li><li>Experience developing individual behavior plans </li><li>Safety Care training (or equivalent approach to de-escalation) </li><li>Familiarity with the following curriculum: Open Circle, Fly Five, Zones of Regulation, Social Thinking </li></ul> <p>Salary: Appropriate Step/Lane on teacher's salary schedule</p> <p>Concord Public Schools and Concord-Carlisle High School are seeking diverse and culturally competent educators.</p>
