The Retail and Visitor Services Coordinator play a vital role in creating memorable first impressions for our guests while driving retail revenue and supporting the operational success of the Visitor Information Center.</p> <p>This position combines front-line hospitality with a strong sales focus, using product knowledge, merchandising strategy, and guest engagement to maximize retail performance and enhance the visitor experience. The coordinator actively identifies sales opportunities, supports curated collections aligned with Charlotte's signature events and conventions, and ensures operational excellence in inventory management, reporting, and event-based retail activations.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>A. Essential Job Duties</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a front-facing ambassador for Charlotte, delivering exceptional customer service while actively promoting retail offerings to drive revenue and enhance the guest experience. </li><li>Engage visitors with strong product knowledge and suggestive selling techniques to increase average transaction value and support overall sales goals. </li><li>Maintain visually compelling, brand-aligned merchandising displays that encourage purchases and reflect Charlotte's culture, signature events, and convention activity. </li><li>Support daily retail operations, including inventory management, pricing, restocking, vendor reorders, and margin oversight to ensure profitability. </li><li>Assist in planning and executing offsite retail pop-up activations tied to conventions and city-wide events, maximizing sales opportunities in high-traffic environments. </li><li>Coordinate special, bulk, and consignment orders in partnership with event planners, the Visit Charlotte Sales team, and retail vendors to ensure timely fulfillment and revenue optimization. </li><li>Monitor, track, and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance and visitor traffic using POS systems, Shopify, MOMENTUS, and Microsoft Office applications; identify trends and recommend opportunities for growth. </li><li>Maintain accurate financial records, process invoices, complete month-end reporting, and support reconciliation processes to ensure operational accountability. </li><li>Update retail systems and product catalogs, communicate enhancements, and assist with training team members on sales practices and operational procedures. </li><li>Conduct quarterly inventory counts and coordinate the annual physical inventory to maintain accurate reporting and minimize shrinkage. </li><li>Ensure the Visitor Information Center remains clean, organized, and visually appealing, reinforcing Visit Charlotte's high standards and commitment to excellence. </li></ul> <p>B. Champion CRVA's mission, vision and core values and comply with organizations policies and procedures.</p> <p>Scope of Responsibility</p> <ul> <li>This job has no budgetary responsibilities. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibility</p> <ul> <li>This job has no supervisory responsibilities </li></ul> <p>Knowledge and Skill Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Language Ability: Ability to speak effectively before individuals or groups of customers or employees of organization. </li><li>Math Ability: Ability to apply basics concepts of retail math. </li><li>Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and to objectively deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited information exists within a fast-paced environment. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and provide appropriate resources for all our guests. </li><li>Customer Service Ability: Ability to anticipate customer needs, builds positive relationships with customers and vendors, goes the extra mile to satisfy and exceed customer needs, treats all customers and vendors with highest degree of respect and courtesy, and delivers exceptional service to internal and external customers. Initiative to continuously learn more about our destination to better service our guests. Can multi-task in all aspects of this position and deliver highest customer service throughout. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree, preferred. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to drive sales and meet performance goals in a retail or customer-facing environment. </li><li>Ability to balance front-line guest engagement with operational and administrative responsibilities. </li><li>Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with POS and inventory management systems preferred. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Must be able to stand on your feet for an extended period. </li><li>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand for long periods, walk or lift as needed for the guest or operation.
