<p>Description</p> <p>ABOUT US:</p> <p>GEO Prep Mid-City is a part of a network of high-quality public charter schools that deliver the innovative GEO Academies model developed by the GEO Foundation. It joins GEO Prep Academy, GEO Next Generation High School, and GEO Prep Baker in delivering a high-quality learning experience to parents and students in Louisiana. GEO Prep Mid-City is a tuition-free, public charter school that serves students in grades K-8. Our dedicated faculty are committed to providing an outstanding education for students each day as they transition from elementary school to middle school to high school and COLLEGE. Through our partnership with local colleges and universities, our students will be able to take dual credit courses on the college campus to earn college and career credits at no cost to the student. Our curriculum and our teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge, Teach Like a Champion and blended learning model. We are a TAP school!</p> <p>REPORTS TO/TERM:</p> <p>Principal</p> <p>This is a full time 12-month position</p> <p>BUILDING AND GRADE LEVEL ASSIGNMENT:</p> <p>Grade Level 6th-8th</p> <p>ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>The Associate Principal is expected to perform the following duties:</p> <ul> <li>Work with office administration to monitor and maintain student and staff attendance </li><li>Support dean of students and teachers with discipline issues </li><li>Support the school's vision and goals for student achievement </li><li>Articulate and foster the school's desired culture </li><li>Participate in writing and updating the Student Handbook </li><li>Assist the principal with staff supervision and evaluation </li><li>Act with integrity and fairness when relating to students and staff </li><li>Maintain and protect the rights and confidentiality of others </li><li>Participate in parent meetings regarding students </li><li>Inform the principal or lead principal of any problems, concerns or suggestions that have an impact on the operation of the school </li><li>Assist the principal in developing the student master schedule </li><li>Help to manage fiscal and physical school resources efficiently and effectively </li><li>Assist the principal with teacher and academic support staff recruitment </li><li>Promote parent and community involvement within the school as part of a comprehensive public relations program </li><li>Assist in overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of the facilities and report concerns to the building principal and operations manager. </li><li>Stay informed of current trends and legal requirements governing Louisiana schools </li><li>Participate fully in the implementation of TAP: training, leadership/cluster meetings and consistent evaluations </li><li>Work harmoniously as a team supporting other grade level associate principals </li><li>Complete assigned tasks and requests in a timely manner </li><li>Assume additional duties if needed in the event of the principal's absence </li><li>Grade Level 6-8 associate principal will serve as the activities/athletic director </li><li>Participate in coordinated routine monitoring of lesson plans and assessments </li><li>Monitor duty assignments in assigned areas </li><li>Oversee the orderly arrival and dismissal of students </li><li>Coordinate and/or host school events and meetings </li><li>Work on short term and long-term projects </li><li>Attend all building staff meetings </li><li>Assist principal with student and parent written communications </li><li>Maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment for parent, community, staff and volunteers </li><li>Support school programs and activities such as musical programs, recognition ceremonies, holiday celebrations, school sports events etc </li><li>Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the principal or lead principal </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or higher </li><li>Appropriate Grade Level Louisiana Principal License </li><li>TAP Certified </li><li>Commitment to the mission and organizational goals of GEO Prep Mid-City </li></ul>
