<p>The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for scheduling patients for surgical services procedures within the Baptist Health Care system. This position adheres to and ensures all of Baptist's surgical guidelines are followed when scheduling surgery cases. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service to patients, physicians' office staff, physicians and ancillary service departments. This position coordinates with the insurance verification and precertification team and other related patient access teams.</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for scheduling in all modalities within the surgery scheduling systems. </li><li>Responsible for monitoring schedules for BHC Procedural Areas within the Surgery Scheduling system and identifying compression opportunities to OR Scheduling Coordinator or ORMIS Team Lead on a daily basis. Proficient in scheduling outpatient diagnostic services in coordination with the surgical case. </li><li>Proactively works with surgeons' offices to fill any open times in the surgery schedule, reorganizing the schedule to accommodate office or department needs when possible. </li><li>Maintains Baptist Health Care goals of scheduling, registration accuracy, pre-registration, and other healthcare industry standards or trends in which metrics of success are based. </li><li>Coordinates between scheduling team, anesthesia services, related departmental personnel and device vendors for scheduling of specific complex services (Open Hearts, Total Joints, L&D). </li><li>Obtains accurate demographic and reimbursement related information and enters it into the applicable computer system. </li><li>Understands all regulatory agency requirements (i.e. Joint Commission, HIPPA, EMTALA, OIG, and CMS, etc.) as it relates to software under Corporate Scheduling management. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Education</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or Equivalent Required </li></ul> <p>Minimum Work Experience</p> <ul> <li>6 months Relevant healthcare revenue cycle experience (scheduling, patient access, financial assistance, insurance billing, patient and/or insurance collections, reimbursement, health care customer service, payer contracting, or coding) Required </li><li>6 months Healthcare customer service experience or scheduling Preferred </li></ul> <p>Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Medical Terminology. </li><li>Written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Knowledge of Coding. </li><li>Specific applications to use PC applications to achieve work goal. </li><li>Office applications: email, fax module, scan PDF. </li><li>Ability to work in a fast paced work environment. </li><li>Meeting deadlines, organized, time management, conforms to standards. </li><li>Phone customer service. </li><li>Knowledge of scheduling process. </li><li>Knowledge of registration process. </li><li>Work well with other departments to achieve goal. </li><li>Interpreting insurance coverage and reimbursement. </li><li>Patient privacy. </li><li>Coordination patient needs with various service levels. </li><li>Works well within a team structure. </li></ul>
