The EE 2 will report to the Park Manager 3 for Fahnestock, Hudson Highlands and Wonder Lake Parks Group. This is a supervisory position and the EE 2 will direct an EE 1, and Environmental Education Assistant, facility staff - both permanent as well as temporary and seasonal, Student Conservation Association interns and other interns and/or volunteers in the provision of environmental education and Team Building programming.</p> <p>The incumbent will manage environmental education programs and management of the facility which is in Putnam County, NY. Under the direct supervision of the PM 3, the EE 2's duties will include but is not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Oversees and participates in the planning of environmental education workshops and programs for TOEC. </li><li>Plans, directs, coordinates and manages the operation, facilities and maintenance program and residential/overnight camp component at TOEC. </li><li>Oversees conduct of environmental education workshops and programs for TOEC presented by volunteers, paid presenters, and TOEC staff as well as personally conducting programs. </li><li>Manages and directs or personally participates in the development, preparation, and revision of non-teaching environmental education programs/materials. </li><li>Collaborates with PM3, Taconic Regional Office, Albany Office and other park managers to develop and promote special events in support of environmental education and interpretation at TOEC. </li><li>Supervises permanent and seasonal staff, volunteers and interns, and manages the scheduling of schools, scouts and user groups at facility. Schedules staff to assure reasonable coverage of the center, exhibits and programs offered and that all programs are administered professionally throughout the year. </li><li>Oversees lodging and food services for visitors and coordinates residential accommodations of paid staff living on site at the facility, ensuring that Department of Health regulations and other applicable procedures are adhered to. </li><li>Works in coordination with management and staff of Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park and Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve to accomplish mutual goals and support shared programs. </li><li>Other administrative duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications NY HELPS or 55-b/c Qualifications:</p> <p>This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).*</p> <p>To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55-b/c, candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are:</p> <p>Four years of experience in environmental conservation in a professional or technical capacity or professional teaching of environmental education and two years of experience teaching about or interpreting the natural world.</p> <p>An associate degree in a related field can substitute for two years of environmental conservation experience; a bachelor's degree in a related field can substitute for four years of environmental conservation experience.</p> <p>Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education (https://ope.ed.gov/dapip/#/home). If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation promotion field and have at least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as an Environmental Educator 1. If 3 or fewer qualified NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation eligible promotional employees respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified employees without further examination.</p> <p>Note: Nominations for promotion by non-competitive examination will not be approved if the nominee failed (received a non-passing score notice for) the two most recent examinations for promotion to the title for which they are nominated.</p> <p>Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; the appointment will be competitive.</p> <p>70.1 Transfer Qualifications:</p> <p>At least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as a Public Participation Specialist 1, SG 18.
