<p>NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK</p> <p>Candidates for the position must be licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Chapter 74 Cosmetology Instructor, or have at least 5 years' work experience, a High School Diploma or higher, a current MA Cosmetologist license, MA Cosmetologist Instructors license or and/or in the process of obtaining a Chapter 74 Cosmetology license.</p> <p>Candidates for this position will be expected to implement instruction with a strong focus on Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Frameworks. Successful candidates will have previous experience working in a salon setting. The candidate will be responsible for teaching topics such as hair care, nail care, skin care, health and disease prevention, chemistry, anatomy, manicures, color theory, chemical texture services and haircuts. Individuals applying for this position will commit to work collaboratively with instructors within and across all disciplines as required to assist in implementing an academy structure. Candidates will participate in Professional Learning Communities on school-wide department goals and academic-vocational integration activities. Candidates will ensure personal professional growth on a yearly basis with a focus on continuous improvement in student learning.</p> <p>Major Responsibilities:</p> <p>Implement and plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.</p> <p>Support the earning and offering of Industry Recognized Credentials (IRC) in the program.</p> <p>Actively work with Program Advisory Board, local business and industries, and other industry experts for continuous program improvement.</p> <p>Lead a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.</p> <p>Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.</p> <p>Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.</p> <p>Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.</p> <p>Maintain all records necessary for reporting student grades, hours, performance, and the documentation of students using Minuteman's competency tracking system.</p> <p>Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents on a regular basis.</p> <p>Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.</p> <p>Maintain adequate working conditions of all equipment in the classroom/shop facilities</p> <p>Attend staff or team meetings and serve on staff committees as required.</p> <p>Maintain and improve professional competence.</p> <p>Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of administration.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITIONS</p> <p>Licensed or the ability to become licensed as a Chapter 74 Instructor by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Cosmetology is required.</p> <p>Five years full-time employment experience directly related to Cosmetology required.</p> <p>Minimum 2 years teaching experience preferred.</p> <p>Knowledge of the Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Frameworks for Cosmetology preferred.</p> <p>Cosmetology license required.</p> <p>Previous experience with a SMS student management system preferred.</p> <p>Previous experience with Salon Software preferred.</p> <p>Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff.</p> <p>Conditions of employment</p> <p>Equipment Used: Copier, SMART board, computer, phone.</p> <p>Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and move around the Cosmetology salon and adjacent rooms.
