<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Monroe Public Schools has a vacancy.</p> <p>Maintenance I - 2nd Shift Position - Masuk High School</p> <p>Apply Online</p> <p>Category: Maintenance/Maintenance I</p> <p>Date Posted: 4/29/2025</p> <p>Location: Masuk High School</p> <p>Date of Availability: ASAP</p> <p>Date Closing: 07/18/2025</p> <p>Position Function:</p> <ul> <li>Works under the direct supervision of the Principal, Director of Facilities, and Maintenance Supervisor. </li><li>Performs general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds; and provides cleaning and maintenance assistance to students, teachers, visitors and others as necessary. </li><li>Performs related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Opens and/or closes the building, according to the daily schedule. </li><li>Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas, neat, clean and safe at all times. </li><li>Sweeps, scrubs, washes, mops, dusts and otherwise cleans all areas within school facilities. </li><li>Refinishes and seals floors. Vacuums and shampoos carpets. </li><li>Requests cleaning supplies before existing supplies are depleted. </li><li>Stores supplies and equipment in a neat and safe manner. </li><li>Sets up chairs, tables and other equipment for school performances and events. </li><li>Does emergency clean-up resulting from breakage, vandalism, spillage or illness. </li><li>Safely operates a variety of equipment, including but not limited to, floor machines, landscaping equipment, snow removal equipment, etc. </li><li>Accepts deliveries from vendors. Verifies contents of shipment received and forwards paperwork to the school office. </li><li>Attends training sessions as assigned. </li><li>Removes snow and dispenses ice-melt as needed. </li><li>Responds to emergency situations in school buildings, such as power failure, plumbing, heating, and/or vandalism. </li><li>Performs maintenance which includes, but is not limited to, assembling furniture, painting, hanging pictures and other items, and replacement of light bulbs, as required. </li><li>Assists with summer building and grounds maintenance, including but not limited to, lawn mowing, assembling furniture, light repair, cleaning of rooms and furniture, and stripping and waxing of floors. </li><li>Assists parents and other visitors to school buildings with special events and programs. </li><li>Performs other related tasks as directed by supervisors. </li></ul> <p>Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.</p> <p>Qualifications Profile:</p> <p>Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position. </li><li>Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance desirable. </li><li>Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation. </li></ul> <p>FLSA Status: Non-exempt</p>
