<p>Job Description</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>Receives, decontaminates and processes instrumentation and equipment used in the hospital and various outside agencies, as well as the documentation of those processes.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:</p> <ul> <li>Decontamination of equipment and cards (medic or isolation) returned from the Nursing units. </li><li>Retrieving soiled instruments from the Nursing units. </li><li>Change proteolytic enzyme cleaner on the Nursing units every five days. </li><li>Decontamination of instrumentation received from areas within the hospital and outside agencies. </li><li>Sealing decontamination boxes and making new ones as needed (DGH only). </li><li>Ordering of supplies needed to fulfill job responsibilities. </li><li>Assemble fluffs, kling, rondec, towels, etc. for sterilization. </li><li>Stock medic cart after use and return to pharmacy. </li><li>Stock isolation carts. </li><li>De-lint towels. </li><li>Fold linen and spunguard for storage. </li><li>Run Bowie Dick and biological tests, and record appropriately. </li><li>Count, wrap and process instrumentation for sterilization. </li><li>Document accurately processing information of loads. </li><li>Restock service cart, isolation, crash, specialty, etc. as needed. </li><li>Provide and maintain a clean work environment on a daily basis. </li><li>Functions cooperatively as a team member. Responds as directed by the Charge Nurse to the changing needs of patients and the unit. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li><li>Strives to achieve excellence of service as described in the CARE Manual. </li><li>Responds to the following Shore Health System codes: Code Pink (when called), Code Red (when called) and Code D (when called). </li><li>Responsible for honest behavior in all matters. To the best of the employee's knowledge and understanding, complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations. </li><li>Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information.
