<p>Distinguishing Features of the Class</p> <p>Under general supervision to safeguard swimming pool patrons, to insure proper use of pool facilities, to assign lifeguards and maintain lifeguard schedules, and to assume pool responsibility in the absence of the Recreation Program Supervisor.</p> <p>This is a Permanent Part Time position (20 - 29 hours a week) and will be all year round at the Reichardt Community Recreation Center and various outdoor pools in the summer.</p> <p>Acceptable Experience and Training</p> <p>Must be at least 18 years old.</p> <p>Prior Lifeguard or Swimming Instructor experience preferred.</p> <p>Required Special Qualifications</p> <p>Valid driver's license or equivalent mobility required.</p> <ul> <li>If possess an out-of-state Driver's License, submittal of driving records is required. AA/EOE</p> <p>Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)</p> <ul> <li>Performs all duties of the Lifeguard position; </li><li>Maintains constant watch for accidents or potential accidents at a swimming pool; </li><li>Enforces rules governing the conduct of persons at a swimming pool, warning patrons against hazardous practices; </li><li>Possess and utilize superior customer services skills; </li><li>Assists persons in distress by application of safety techniques, resuscitation and First Aid administration; </li><li>Assists with maintenance work on or around the swimming pool; </li><li>Assumes responsibility of assigning daily tasks to the guard staff; </li><li>Assumes managerial tasks in the absence of the manager; </li><li>Performs related work as required. </li></ul>
