<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Director of Student Support Services</p> <p>Job Goal: Director of Student Support Services is responsible for the administration and supervision of the district wide special education program</p> <p>Specific Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Promotes and guides others to create a culture for learning that focuses on increasing student achievement and achieving stated program goals. </li><li>Assists in developing and monitoring curriculum, planning instruction, and obtaining resources to build a quality learning environment. </li><li>Works in conjunction with building administrator(s) in the development and implementation of pre-referral strategies and procedures. </li><li>Provides technical assistance including training, support, access to resources, and information regarding state platforms and best practices. </li><li>Supervises and evaluates all special education staff members including student support services staff, school counselors, social workers, psychologists, speech/language therapists, school nurses, and paraprofessionals. </li><li>Initiates, implements, and monitors, as necessary, all forms, reports, and mandatory procedures related to state and federal special education regulations and requirements. </li><li>Monitors and or participates in all student assistance team and planning and placement team meetings and 504's to ensure compliance with federal and state laws. </li><li>Develops, implements, and monitors programs related to gifted and talented ESY and English Language Learners. </li><li>Assists in the recruitment and hiring of personnel. </li><li>Prepares and administers the budget for special education and student support services. </li><li>Completes applications, provides management, and acts as the liaison for specified grants. </li><li>Provides administrative representation at assigned local and state meetings. </li><li>Coordinates all special education programs and student support services within the District for all students ages birth-22 who require such services. </li><li>Coordinates and promotes early screening, identification, and intervention for birth to school-age children. </li><li>Coordinates homebound tutoring program. </li><li>Engages in professional activities that support continued lifelong learning. </li><li>Determines transportation services for special education students. </li><li>Serves at District Title IX Coordinator. </li><li>Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Intermediate Administration and Supervision (092) </li><li>CT Special Education Certification (165) or related services certification </li><li>Three to five (3-5) years of leadership experience in a public school setting preferred </li></ul> <p>EVALUATION:</p> <p>Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Superintendent of Schools in accordance with Board policy and as specified by contract requirements.</p>
