This is an annual 10-month non-tenure track appointment with the opportunity to teach in the summer as needed. The candidate appointed to this rank assume an instructional role, to include teaching (4:4) at the undergraduate level, advising, and participation in other professional service activities.</p> <p>Position Type FullTime</p> <p>Type of Recruitment General Public</p> <p>Type of Recruitment General Public</p> <p>Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications Master of Arts or Master of Science degree in a social or behavior science with coursework in cyber or online behavior, or a J.D. with related cyberlaw training or professional experience as an attorney.</p> <p>Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities</p> <p>Ability to teach online and in person at the undergraduate level. Willingness to teach Introduction to Cyberlaw and Introduction to Cybercriminology.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to teach Introduction to Cyberlaw and other related law classes. Demonstrated ability to teach Introduction to Cybercriminology. Demonstrated ability to teach coursework on cyber or online phenomena (e.g., coursework in Digital Sociology, Artificial Intelligence, Social Media, Surveillance). The program director for the Interdisciplinary major of Cybercrime is on the faculty and faculty in the department teach several courses in cybercrime as well as classes cross listed with the School of Cybersecurity which offers MS in Cybersecurity with a Concentration in Cyber Conflict and Cyber Crime. Our PhD in Criminology & Criminal Justice is a sociological criminology program that highlights social inequality and public policy in the study of crime and justice issues. In addition, we are in the process of proposing a MS Criminology program. The department has an accomplished, collaborative, and diverse faculty and student body committed to equality, social justice, and transformative policies and practices and the successful candidate will enrich this environment. Opportunities exist to participate in ODU's Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, Department of Women's Studies, School of Cybersecurity, and School of Public Health. The surrounding 14 localities and their criminal justice and social service agencies offer tremendous opportunities for research and community engagement partnerships.</p>
