<p>General Purpose</p> <p>Supports the program instructor in classroom management and the delivery of surgical technology training curriculum and assists students in attaining the knowledge and skills needed to complete the training program and succeed in the career for which they are training. Develops training as required.</p> <p>This position would be for Tuesday 7:45 AM - 3:15 PM, and other days if needed. 6-12 hours per week</p> <p>Job Focus</p> <ul> <li>Instructs Surgical Technology students using approved curriculum. </li><li>Develops or assists in preparation of course materials as requested. </li><li>Maintains records (including attendance, classroom performance, and student outcomes) in the designated student information system. </li><li>Distribute course materials; administer tests (if applicable); provide student with instruction evaluation tool. </li><li>Manages Surgical Technology lab skills instruction according to accreditation and professional standards so that students are adequately prepared to begin clinical externships in a safe and competent manner. </li><li>Demonstrates and explains skills related to their use in the surgical setting. </li><li>Evaluates and documents student skill acquisition and communicates effectively with program instructor regarding student progress and concerns. </li><li>Reinforces safe practices in the surgical setting for both the student and the surgical patient by adhering to current standards of practice. </li><li>Maintains a clean and orderly training including monitoring the use of supplies and equipment and installing, setting up and maintaining equipment as appropriate. </li><li>Promotes job readiness and encourages professionalism and good work habits and assists students in seeking and finding employment. </li><li>Works cooperatively within the College community. </li><li>Interacts with students in an atmosphere of open communication. </li><li>Maintains required certification status and/or meets accreditation standards relevant to the program. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A high school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Minimum of two years of recent experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist or as a faculty in surgical technology within the past five (5) years. </li><li>Certificate in the field of surgical technology offered through a national certification program accredited by the NCAA. </li><li>Individuals who qualify are required to hold or obtain industry certification and or meet accreditation standards relevant to the program. </li><li>This individual must show competence in the technical skills related to surgical technology training and demonstrate ability to independently provide on-going coverage in the absence of the instructor. </li><li>Requires strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Prior teaching experience desired. </li></ul> <p>Process/Application</p> <p>Davis Technical College complies with all aspects of the ADA and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
