<ul> <li> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> </li><li> <p>Works under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist and provides various technical support services related to inpatient Pharmacy services</p> </li><li> <p>DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> </li><li> <p>Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares and fills medication orders (unit dose, floor stock, and intravenous admixtures), medication kits/carts</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations safely and accurately using appropriate techniques.</p> </li><li> <p>Delivers medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas accurately per established schedule</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations (excludes automated dispensing cabinets)</p> </li><li> <p>Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable medications.</p> </li><li> <p>Answer requests and makes stat deliveries to patient care and ancillary areas when requested</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately. Files documentation in appropriate locations.</p> </li><li> <p>EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum requirement:</p> </li><li> <p>High school diploma or GED</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains active Kentucky Board of Pharmacy registration</p> </li><li> <p>Must attain PTCB Pharmacy Technician certification based on one of the following criteria:</p> </li><li> <p>If completed a recognized PTCB Pharmacy Technician training program or has the equivalent work experience as a Pharmacy Technician (minimum 500 hour): Exam must be scheduled and attempted within 45 days of hire date and certification completion within 90 days of hire date</p> </li><li> <p>If no prior Pharmacy Technician work experience: Exam must be scheduled and attempted within 4 months of hire date (minimum 500 hours work completed) and certification completion within 6 months of hire date</p> </li><li> <p>Failure to obtain PTCB Pharmacy Technician certification within the time frames as indicated will result in removal from position or termination.</p> </li><li> <p>Preferred qualifications:</p> </li><li> <p>Six (6) months prior pharmacy experience</p> </li><li> <p>WORKING ENVIRONMENT</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly works near moving mechanical parts</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation</p> </li><li> <p>The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.</p> </li><li> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently required to walk and move about.</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing.</p> </li><li> <p>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.</p> </li></ul>
