<p>Ellwood Crankshaft and Machine is the world's leading manufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. ECM's products and services include crankshafts and eccentrics used in mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating air and gas compressors, reciprocating pumps, engines, mechanical shears, rock crushers, homogenizers and other miscellaneous applications. ECM services the locomotive, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas and compression markets.</p> <p>ECM is currently hiring for the Machinist I (GFM Operator) position. Employees in this position operate large, CNC-controlled crankshaft milling machines. Duties and responsibilities are dynamic and may change over time to suit business needs. The Machinist I position is a non-exempt, full-time opportunity that typically works a 4 X 4 schedule working 12-hour shifts. Machinist I may workday, night, or rotating shifts as dictated by business needs.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent </li><li>3 or more years machining experience preferred, but not required </li><li>Strong analytical skills and demonstrated problem-solving abilities </li><li>Familiar with general computer applications </li><li>Excellent organizational skills </li><li>Must be results oriented with a strong desire to succeed </li><li>Solid verbal and written communication skills </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Read and understand written instructions and work lists </li><li>Basic shop math skills (Algebra / Geometry) </li><li>Read and interpret manufacturing drawings </li><li>Read and interpret CNC program manuscripts </li><li>Perform basic troubleshooting of CNC programs </li><li>Use precision measuring instruments </li><li>Experience operating tow motors, overhead cranes, or similar heavy equipment </li></ul> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Primary responsibility is to operate a large, CNC-controlled crankshaft milling machine:</p> </li><li> <p>Loading workpiece into machine, layout and setting program offsets</p> </li><li> <p>Monitoring the machining process, identifying and correcting issues</p> </li><li> <p>Unloading and deburring of semi-finished part</p> </li><li> <p>Indexing carbide inserts, rebuilding and basic repairs of tooling system</p> </li><li> <p>Proving out new CNC part programs</p> </li><li> <p>Basic machine maintenance (simple repairs, filling oil tanks, cleaning out chips and debris)</p> </li><li> <p>Performing in-process inspection of completed workpieces</p> </li><li> <p>Maintaining relevant reports and documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Keeping work area neat, clean, and organized</p> </li><li> <p>Operating a metal cutting band saw</p> </li><li> <p>Turning and centering parts in a lathe</p> </li><li> <p>Machining drive flats into work pieces using a CNC mill</p> </li><li> <p>Moving items with overhead cranes, power pushers, forklifts, and other motorized equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Performs all work in accordance with plant safety rules.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains highest quality standards in the execution of all assigned work.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate large forklift 7 empty large roll off chip hoppers.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other routine labor work as assigned and as required in accordance with production needs.</p> </li><li> <p>This position will require occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds. This position will also require frequent sitting, standing, reaching and climbing. It will also include occasional walking, climbing and squatting.
