<p>Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>This Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the full product design through completion of the design being released to the manufacturing team. This engineer will work with customers to specify requirements for their product line and create the product either from scratch or from existing designs. The role involves spending 75% of the time in CAD performing component and assembly designs within mobile equipment, and the remaining 25% supporting production and shop projects. The engineer will ensure the design is successfully manufactured and delivered to the end customer, requiring excellent communication and teamwork skills.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Create new options for existing products typically at the request of a customer during a rig sale. </li><li>Collaborate with a team (sales, production, engineering, vendors/customers) to design and develop new drilling equipment focusing on operator safety, competitive advantages, and overall product/process improvement. </li><li>Work closely with electric and hydraulic controls engineers to ensure cohesive designs. </li><li>Review and address engineering change requests from sales, service, and production departments. </li><li>Assist internal production and service departments with the implementation and servicing of new and existing designs. </li><li>Generate component drawings and BOMs for all rig designs to be procured from outside vendors. </li><li>Adhere to engineering processes and documentation. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Associates degree in Engineering Discipline (ME, MET preferred). </li><li>2-5 years of experience in 3D design with CAD software (SolidEdge preferred but any CAD software is acceptable). </li><li>2+ years of experience with BOMs. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally (daily communication with engineering, production, and vendors/customers). </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Engineering Discipline (ME, MET preferred). </li><li>2+ years of manufacturing design experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, mobile equipment with moving parts, and comfortability in a job shop or fabrication environment. </li><li>2+ years of experience in FEA work. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The company is a third-generation, family-owned business founded in 1962. They manufacture the Versa-Drill brand of water well, geothermal, exploration, shallow oil/gas drilling rigs, and equipment. Located in Downtown Indianapolis, the company operates Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM ET, with a 40-hour workweek. The engineering team consists of six members, including the Engineering Manager, with a collaborative and fast-paced design and manufacturing environment. The company offers flexible vacation time, a great location, and strong employee benefits, including no premiums or copayments for medical benefits for employees.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $40.87/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
