<p>General Statement of Duties</p> <p>This employee performs a variety of accounting-related duties involving generally accepted accounting and auditing tasks. This employee may practice cash management, create new financial reports to capture needed information, and handle more complex accounts and reconciliations than classifications lower in the series. Performs related duties as required.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications (KSAs)</p> <p>(Illustrative only. Any one position may not require all of the listed KSAs nor do the listed examples include all the KSAs which may be required.)</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <p>City of Cincinnati Manual of Fund and Budgetary Accounts.</p> <p>City of Cincinnati Manual for Completion of Financial Documents.</p> <p>Federal/state/local tax laws and applications.</p> <p>Generally accepted accounting principles and practices and auditing standards.</p> <p>Administrative and clerical procedures and systems.</p> <p>Commercial accounting principles to interpret and audit subsidiary records and financial statements.</p> <p>Basic mathematics, e.g., subtraction, addition, division, multiplication, percentiles, decimals, ratios, proportions, interest, etc.</p> <p>Laws and regulations relating to accounting and auditing procedures.</p> <p>Preparation and interpretation of basic financial statements.</p> <p>The format of accounting and financial reports.</p> <p>Skill to:</p> <p>Use mathematics to solve problems.</p> <p>Interact with computers and computer systems to enter data, run reports, maintain information, and produce financial documents.</p> <p>Operate an adding machine, calculator, and copy machine.</p> <p>Practice active listening, critical thinking, and time management.</p> <p>Ability to:</p> <p>Analyze, organize, and present data.</p> <p>Extract pertinent information in order to develop meaningful accounting and audit reports.</p> <p>Communicate tactfully, concisely, and firmly, both orally and in writing, to the public.</p> <p>Prepare complete and accurate accounting records.</p> <p>Prepare financial reports and statements in accordance with predetermined requirements and standards.</p> <p>Apply and adapt established methods to varied accounting transactions.</p> <p>Interpret financial statements.</p> <p>Organize, analyze, interpret, and evaluate financial systems, taxation, and management data.</p> <p>Exercise independent judgment on assigned accounting matters.</p> <p>Apply instructions from manuals to the job.</p> <p>Discern if information (either verbal or written) from various sources is logical (to detect errors).</p> <p>Establish and maintain effective working relationships.</p> <p>Required Education and Experience</p> <p>Promotional: : Applicants with one year of satisfactory job performance as an Accounting Technician 2 and at least 15 semester credit hours in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, economics, statistics, mathematics, business administration, or a related field at a technical institute, college or university may be promoted to Accounting Technician 3 without further examination.</p> <p>Open: Each applicant must have completed an associate degree or higher in accounting finance, bookkeeping, economics, statistics, mathematics, business administration, or a related field</p> <p>or</p> <p>Two years of paid work experience in accounting and have successfully completed 15 semester credit hours in accounting, bookkeeping, economics, statistics, mathematics, business administration, or a related field at a technical institute, college, or university.</p> <p>MILITARY EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE EVALUATION</p> <p>Military education and experience may be substituted for college level course work at the lower and upper division baccalaureate and graduate levels and apprenticeship training at the vocational certificate level on a case-by-case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations.</p> <p>Working and Physical Conditions</p> <p>Duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, general manual dexterity, and the ability to see detail at a close range.</p>
