<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position Title: Special Education Teacher - High School</p> <p>Program: Farmington Valley Diagnostic Center - Summer Valley</p> <p>General Purpose:</p> <p>Under the direction of the Program Director, plan, prepare and deliver educational curriculum and instructional activities to assess student performance. This summer program takes place at the Farmington Valley Diagnostic Center from June 30 - July 25, 2025, with no ESY July 4th. Staff hours are M - F, 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Identifies long and short-term individual student learning objectives, prepares and writes lesson plans, provides all necessary instruction and assesses student performance. Selects appropriate learning materials including texts, tests, supplements, audiovisual materials and other media.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and maintains a safe and nurturing environment for all learners.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides instruction to students using methods and activities which best meet predetermined objectives using scientifically research based resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitates student growth in developmental, affective and cognitive domains by promoting student participation in the learning experience, promoting analytical thinking, teaching effective work habits and study skills and providing opportunities for individual</p> </li></ol> <p>achievement.</p> <ol start="5"> <li>Interacts with students, parents, LEA and other personnel to ensure accomplishment of educational goals. </li></ol> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <p>Requires BS/BA degree in Special Education with emphasis in appropriate discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
