<p>Job Description:</p> <p>ST. JAMES R-1 SCHOOL DISTRICT</p> <p>CERTIFICATED POSITION DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Title: High School Principal</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Missouri certificate in secondary school administration issued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education </li><li>A minimum of two years of teaching experience </li><li>Prior principalship experience preferred </li><li>Effective communication, team-building, and organizational skills </li><li>Provide effective instructional leadership </li></ul> <p>Reports To: Assistant Superintendent</p> <p>Supervises: Assistant principal, teachers, athletic director, and office staff</p> <p>Job Goal:</p> <p>The high school principal is responsible for providing effective instructional leadership and is accountable for the overall operation of the high school. Major responsibilities include the educational program, professional and classified staff, student development, facility maintenance and management, fiscal management of activities, and developing effective community relations.</p> <p>Performance Objectives:</p> <ul> <li>Leads in the development, implementation, and communication of educational goals </li><li>Provides strong and positive educational leadership in organizing, developing, and administering the instructional program of the high school </li><li>Utilizes state data to identify areas of strength and weakness; communicates this information to staff for curriculum goal setting </li><li>Provides leadership in developing the necessary climate for change and growth within the school </li><li>Supervises teaching staff and programs in accordance with building and district philosophy </li><li>Makes recommendations for hiring, assigning, and evaluating all personnel within the high school building </li><li>Provides for effective and efficient day-to-day operation of school facilities that are conducive to a positive learning environment </li><li>Demonstrates effective organizational skills and completes duties promptly and accurately </li><li>Establishes and maintains effective discipline in the school and promotes a positive school climate </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of finance and budget within the specific area(s) of authority and discharges the responsibility for making expenditures in accordance with the operational philosophy of the Board of Education </li><li>Assure building goals are congruent with the District Strategic Plan and Board policy </li><li>Comply with federal, state, local, and Board of Education policies and regulations </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent of schools. </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment:</p> <p>The superintendent makes employment recommendations in February of each year for the next fiscal year. The elementary principal shall be employed on a 261 day basis. Employment will be secured through a written contract, which will state the terms of the appointment, compensation, benefits and other conditions of employment. The elementary principal's contract shall be reviewed annually and may be extended at the discretion of the Board, not to exceed two (2) years.</p> <p>Evaluation:</p> <p>Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of MSBA Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Principals (CFB)</p> <p>F.L.S.A.
