<p>Senior Software Engineer</p> <p>Overview:</p> <p>We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing Business Application IT team to build and lead modern data platforms to support our Talcott Investment Accounting Platform Integration. A senior software engineer is both creative and a problem-solver, responsible for leading the Software Development or Software Integration for set of Applications understanding the business needs. Beyond technical duties, senior software engineers also lead a wider team of developers, ensuring that all development efforts will improve the software functionality and user experience. A senior software engineer must have a vast array of technical skills and should be confident using programming languages like Python, SQL, as well as software tooling like JSON, RDBMS, MVC frameworks, and Design Patterns. A senior software engineer needs a thorough understanding of SOAP, REST, and API design, along with experience writing SQL queries and Azure DevOps Software. Must have a working knowledge Agile/Scrum methodologies.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Technical lead for efforts with complex requirement. </li><li>Responsible to ensure viable solution options are considered and ensures detail design specifications are completed (review and sign-off). </li><li>Leads large scale application development efforts; includes coding, testing, debugging and documentation per technical design specifications. </li><li>Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions. </li><li>Work closely with onshore and offshore teams to ensure smooth project execution. </li><li>Has expertise in most Talcott key technologies such as MS Azure, Microsoft SQL Server, Python, Power BI and React. </li><li>Enforces adherence to the Talcott software development lifecycle and security policies. </li><li>Leads technical teams through the diagnosis and resolution of technical challenges. </li><li>Ensures appropriate documentation of technical issues including impact assessment, root cause, and resolution. </li><li>Builds software architecture designs as a delegate to Software Architects. </li><li>Mentor's peers with the objective to strengthen technical talent. </li><li>Analyze, design, and develop software programs to automate data feeds. </li><li>Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. </li><li>Provide recommendations for continuous improvement. </li><li>Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in computer science or equivalent experience. </li><li>Hands-on experience working with modern programming languages like JavaScript, Python, etc. </li><li>Strong DevOps focus and experience building and deploying software with cloud technologies using Microsoft Cloud API's etc. </li><li>Experience with building APIs and services using REST, SOAP and Graph etc. </li><li>Experience with scripting languages like Perl, Power Shell, Shell etc. </li><li>Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks. </li><li>Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies. </li><li>Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Has experience in some of Talcott key technologies such as MS Azure or other cloud provider, Microsoft SQL Server or other relational database, Python, Power BI or other reporting tools, and JavaScript. </li><li>5 plus years of relevant experience. </li></ul>
