<p>The Green River Police Department is accepting applications for Crossing Guards for the current and upcoming school years.  </p> <p>Under general supervision, Crossing Guards perform duties related to assisting children to safely cross the street to and from school.</p> <ul> <li>This position reports to the Patrol Captain at the Green River Police Department. </li><li>This Crossing Guard position exercises no supervision over other positions. </li></ul> <p>Stop vehicular traffic on assigned street at assigned location to help children to safely cross to and from school.</p> <p>Give instructions to children.</p> <p>Communicate effectively with parents and school officials as necessary regarding safety issues.</p> <p>Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.</p> <p> Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Procedures for safely assisting children across the street. </li><li>Pertinent traffic laws. </li></ul> <p>Skill to:</p> <ul> <li>Perform assigned tasks properly and efficiently. </li></ul> <p>Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public. </li><li>Provide own transportation to and from work site. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li> A high school diploma, or equivalent is required . </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>One year of experience working with children and/or the public. </li></ul> <p>License or Certification:</p> <ul> <li>Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license. </li></ul> <p>Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:</p> <p>Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, and grasp; lift up to 10 lbs.; and exposure to heat, cold, and outdoors.</p> <p> </p> <p>Applicants who are offered employment are required to pass a comprehensive background investigation, DCI/FIB Fingerprint check, job-related physical exam, drug screening test and driver's license check.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>The City of Green River is an EEO/ADA employer and a smoke-free workplace per City ordinance.</p>
