<p>Job Description Summary</p> <p>Organization's Summary Statement:</p> <p>NOAA Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center</p> <p>The NOAA Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center (LMRCSC) located in the School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences (SANS) at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, invites applications for a twelve-month, full-time, exempt position.</p> <p>UMES offers exciting opportunities for professional growth. Overtime, shift-differential and on-call pay (non-exempt positions only)</p> <p>The Center is a consortium of seven institutions (www.umes.edu/lmrcsc) with more than 30 scientists who teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students and conduct research in NOAA related sciences. SANS has three departments, including the Department of Natural Sciences (DNS), Department of Agriculture, Food, and Resource Sciences (DAFRS), and Department of Human Ecology (DHE). DNS offers B.S. degrees in various disciplines, M.S and Ph.D. interdisciplinary degree programs in Marine-Estuarine and Environmental Sciences (MEES), M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Toxicology, and a Professional Science Master's degree in Quantitative Fisheries and Resource Economics. DAFRS offers master's and Ph.D. degrees in Food and Agricultural Science.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>The individual chosen for this position will allocate his/her time in center-wide level leadership and coordination to ensure that students: a) Have Individualized Student Development Plans that are reviewed annually or semi-annually with the students; b) Attain general NOAA-mission skills and competencies; c) Make presentations at professional meetings; d) Are aware and have increased knowledge about the NOAA mission, opportunities for internships, scientific integrity, and acknowledging NOAA for support; e) Participate in NOAA experiential research and training, including professional development to be competitive in the candidate pool for the agency-mission future workforce, and f) Have a clear understanding of the funding agency and how their training and research are aligned with the NOAA mission and vision.</p> <p>Additional responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate with the Data and Information Manager to monitor, guide, and </li></ul> <p>provide timely interventions that align with the Center SMART objectives.</p> <ul> <li>Work with the Data and Information Manager to produce data and timely </li></ul> <p>award-required reporting for center-wide education and training, including</p> <p>all students gaining center-wide core competencies, communicating</p> <p>achievements, identifying evidence-based best practices and strategies for</p> <p>continual internal assessments.</p> <ul> <li>Lead center outcomes aligned to support the LMRCSC program purpose, </li></ul> <p>priorities and expected outcomes.</p> <ul> <li>Work with the Distinguished Research Scientist, to identify, develop and </li></ul> <p>coordinate professional development experiences for Center students, and</p> <p>with an external evaluator, to ensure that the data for performance</p> <p>measurement are verified as factual.</p> <ul> <li>Perform other related duties as assigned such as participation in LMRCSC </li></ul> <p>Executive Committee meetings.</p> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>May require extended periods of standing, bending, sitting at desk. </li><li>May require lifting up to 25 lbs. </li><li>Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and </li></ul> <p>internally.</p> <ul> <li>Requires operation of a variety of office equipment. </li></ul> <p>Preferences: N/A</p> <p>Licenses/ Certifications: N/A</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Required Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Ed.D. or a Ph.D. degree in Education from a regionally accredited institution </li></ul> <p>of higher education.</p> <ul> <li>Experience in higher education workforce development to successfully </li></ul> <p>graduate students in agency mission fields, and assessments to</p> <p>demonstrate that students attain the requisite working skills and</p> <p>competencies for the workforce.</p> <ul> <li>Strong record of scholarly activity. </li><li>Effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Skilled in database management/development </li><li>Skilled in managing and assessing multi-institutional educational programs </li><li>Ability to lead, manage, and coordinate an interdisciplinary education </li></ul> <p>program</p> <ul> <li>Strong customer service skills. </li><li>Must be organized and detail oriented. </li></ul> <p>Additional Job Details</p> <p>Required Application Materials: Qualified applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, unofficial transcripts (official transcripts will be required once an offer is accepted), and the names of three current, professional references to include e-mail address and telephone number.
