<p>Research Associate-Synthetic Biology / Metabolic Engineering</p> <p>Main Functions</p> <p>The Research Associate will join a team engineering yeast and bacteria with novel capabilities for use across Lallemand's business units. The Research Associate will play a key role in developing and improving metabolic pathways to produce low carbon biochemicals.</p> <p>Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Designing molecular constructs, cloning, and genetic engineering of yeast </li><li>Strain genotyping and phenotyping. </li><li>Small scale growth assays and enzyme assays. </li><li>Documenting experimental procedures and results. </li></ul> <p>Technical skills</p> <p>Required</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of genetic and gene regulation </li><li>B.A. / B.S. in biology, genetics, biochemistry, or related field. </li><li>Experience in various molecular biology and microbiology procedures. </li><li>Good troubleshooting skills to deal with technical problems. </li><li>Experience in providing high quality, timely data. </li><li>Lab experience outside of academic classes </li></ul> <p>An asset</p> <ul> <li>Synthetic Biology Skills (e.g. Golden gate, MoClo, Gibson Assembly, PCR) </li><li>Experience working with yeast </li><li>Genetic Engineering </li><li>Fermentation </li></ul> <p>Personal abilities</p> <p>Required</p> <ul> <li>Desire to work as part of a team </li><li>Demonstrated Oral and written communication skills </li></ul> <p>Organization</p> <p>Lallemand is a privately held Canadian company founded in the late 19th century, which develops, produces, and markets microorganisms for various markets.
