We have served the community for 57 years and pride ourselves on the care we have been able to give during that time.</p> <p>Fairhaven is seeking a full-time Cook to perform a variety of activities supporting the Food Services function. This non-exempt position is 37.5 hours per week (5:30am to 1:30pm) with some flexibility required.</p> <p>Primary Function: Responsible for preparing and serving food to residents and guests. Assists with other Dietary dept. functions such as housekeeping and dishwashing when necessary.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Has basic knowledge and understanding of various therapeutic diets and applies this knowledge in preparing and serving food. </li><li>Reviews menu spreadsheets and conforms strictly to the requirements of the menu. </li><li>Prepares and serves food by following standardized recipes and correct serving portions; maintains responsibility for the taste of food and makes adjustments as necessary. </li><li>Plans cooking schedule so that food is ready at proper time. </li><li>Works plate service as required by particular kitchen need. </li><li>Checks food temperatures and records in log book </li><li>Monitors and records temperatures of cold storage units. </li><li>Supervises food service staff in the absence of Food Service Director and other supervisors. </li><li>Makes sure area and equipment is clean and sanitized. </li><li>Coordinates the transfer of meals to Supportive Care or between kitchens as needed. </li><li>Responsible for supplements, food substitutions, and utilization of overproduced food. </li><li>Responsible for appearance of food and garnishments. </li><li>Participates in creating an atmosphere, which allows for the privacy, dignity, cleanliness, safety and well-being of each resident. </li><li>Safeguards privacy and confidentiality of all resident health care information, which includes complying with all HIPAA regulations. </li><li>Acts as a customer service representative and public relations ambassador for Fairhaven with residents, families, vendors, volunteers and other visitors. </li><li>Interacts positively with all residents at all times creating an atmosphere, which promotes a homelike environment. </li><li>Maintains, cares for and safely uses supplies and equipment effectively and efficiently per Fairhaven policies and procedures. </li><li>Maintains sanitary conditions; follows infection control and waste management procedures as they relate to this position. </li><li>Reports incidents of abuse, neglect or a violation of the resident's rights immediately </li><li>Completes all in-service training requirements in a timely manner </li><li>Completes all duties and tasks as assigned </li></ul> <p>Essential Qualifications & Requirements:</p> <p>Type of work and characteristics of duties require:</p> <ul> <li>Physical condition allowing for normal kitchen duties including but not limited to; lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, standing or walking an entire shift, use of arms and hands with dexterity, ability to read and understand directions. </li><li>Ability to communicate in a friendly manner to residents and coworkers in English. </li><li>Ability to show warmth, love and compassion and to make residents feel comfortable. </li><li>Dependability and punctuality </li><li>Comfort in working in a Christian Retirement Center environment. </li><li>Adherence to all regulations specified in the Fairhaven employee handbook, procedures and policy documents. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Identifies improvements to processes and recommend changes to management. </li><li>Identifies safety hazards and emergency situations and report. </li><li>Assists the immediate supervisor with various administrative tasks to support department operations as directed. </li><li>Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Experience & Education or Skills Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or Equivalent </li><li>Must have completed food service sanitation course. </li><li>Minimum one-year experience in nursing home, institution or restaurant. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Kitchen and dining areas </li><li>Exposed to steam, hot water, and hot equipment </li><li>Individual duties within a team environment </li><li>Fairhaven approved uniform must be worn </li><li>Typical health care facility exposure when working with the elderly resident including potential injury or infection. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>See job description</p> <p>Salary Description</p> <p>$17.30-$18.75/hour</p>
