<p>THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $62,868 - $72,298.</p> <p>The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community.</p> <p>The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) provides legal representation and advice to the Commissioner and all divisions at ACS. OGC identifies areas of legal vulnerability and coordinates with other Divisions to ensure compliance with court orders, consent decrees, and other legal and regulatory mandates. OGC also works closely with the NYC Law Department to minimize risk and avoid litigation and defend ACS in class action and individual lawsuits. OGC is comprised of six legal units and two non-legal units.</p> <p>The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) FOIL/Records Compliance & Records Management Unit seek a Community Coordinator/ Special Assistant. The Records and Compliance Unit (RCU) within the Office of the General Counsel is responsible for all FOIL requests for the agency; all closed records requests for the agency; is the agency the liaison for the New York City Law Department Torts Division; the Special Federal Litigation Unit; the unit provides advice and support to agency staff regarding the confidentiality of the child protective services records and the Identifying Information Law which is the responsibility of the Agency Privacy Officer (APO) who is responsible for monitoring the agency's compliance with this local law, by collecting agencywide data and submitting all reports to the Chief Privacy Officer, the Mayor and the NYC Council.</p> <p>Within RCU, the Records Management Unit (RMU) provides support to the entire agency in retrieving and storing records. This requires coordination between the RMU warehouse and the vendor in Jersey City; the RMU warehouse is responsible for ensuring that the SCR review documents are submitted timely to the SCR; The Records Management Unit is responsible for expunging records in accordance with NY Social Services Law.</p> <p>Under close supervision of the Director of the Record Management Unit, the candidate will be responsible will include, but is not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that all vendor invoices, are accurate and paid in a timely matter. </li><li>Responsible for coordinating services for the warehouse by maintaining communication with the Office of Procurement, Budgeting, and Payment Services units within the agency. </li><li>Assist with writing grants and the monthly financial update report once the grants are procured. </li><li>Order office supplies and manage the inventory. . </li><li>Participate in the annual budget meeting, providing insights and suggestions relevant to the community vendors. </li><li>Ensure the Xerox copier is functioning properly, maintaining operational efficiency for community communications. </li><li>Foster relationships with community stakeholders to promote collaboration and resource sharing among various departments. </li><li>Provide the Director of the Records Management Unit with daily updates related to any and all financial matters, including those impacting community programs and initiatives. </li><li>Approve community vendor payroll when necessary, ensuring timely payments for community staff. </li><li>Log case records into the Warehouse Inventory Tracking System (WITS), when needed. </li><li>Familiarity with PASSPort is desired. </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL INFO</p> <p>Section 424-A of the New York Social Services Law requires an authorized agency to inquire whether a</p> <p>candidate for employment with child-caring responsibilities has been the subject of a child abuse and</p> <p>maltreatment report.</p> <p>TO APPLY</p> <p>Please go to www.cityjobs.nyc.gov or www.nyc.gov/ess for current NYC employees and search for Job ID # 758285.</p> <p>No phone calls, faxes or personal inquiries permitted.</p> <p>Note: Only candidates under consideration will be contacted.</p> <p>COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or</p> </li><li> <p>High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or</p> </li><li> <p>Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Skills</p> <p>The preferred candidate should possess the following: - Excellent writing skills - Demonstrate ability to exercise independent judgment - Strong inter-personal skills and ability to take direction from several supervisors - Familiarity with Children's Services' policies and procedures - Knowledge of WITS, CS900 system, Connections</p> <p>Public Service Loan Forgiveness</p> <p>As a prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance programs.
