We are innovating value-based care and leveraging integrated applications, population insights and staffing expertise to ensure all patients have access to high-quality, connected care services that provide better outcomes at a reduced total cost of care.</p> <p>Please Note: We will only contact candidates regarding your applications from one of the following domains: @summithealth.com, @citymd.net, @villagemd.com, @villagemedical.com, @westmedgroup.com, @starlingphysicians.com, or @bmctotalcare.com.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The Oncology Physician Dispensary Pharmacy Technician will be expected to demonstrate ability to perform the following:</p> <ul> <li>Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability. </li><li>Receives prescriptions and inputs into pharmacy database </li><li>Adds insurance and co-pay information to patient's profile </li><li>Initiates prior authorizations for prescriptions in-house and prescriptions sent to specialty pharmacies (fax, phone, CoverMyMeds) </li><li>Look at prescribed medication vs. indication for drug to ensure it matches intent of approval </li><li>Initiate prior authorization by phone, fax, CoverMyMeds (this includes having all supporting documentation to complete the prior authorization) </li><li>Specify if the authorization needs to be URGENT or not and submit </li><li>Follow up on prior authorization within 24 hours, and have the Pharmacist re-transmit in QS/1 to determine if it will result in a paid claim </li><li>Document prior authorization approval and dates into QS/1 to prepare for when to submit a new prior authorization request for patients </li><li>Assist patients with financial assistance applications and renewals, including free drug manufacturer programs </li><li>Keep track of all Open/Closed Foundations on a daily basis </li><li>Enroll patients into foundation assistance (via pharmacy/physician portals or by paper application) </li><li>Keep a record of all active patients on financial assistance </li><li>Receives patient's household income and number of people in household for required eligibility of financial income </li><li>Renews the patient's application at time of ended balance, or end of grant timeframe </li><li>Updates price uploads from Oncology Supply into QS/1 </li><li>Maintains inventory in QS/1 </li><li>Ordering of drugs and supplies </li><li>Runs reports for appropriate daily logs needed to be signed by pharmacist </li><li>Maintains files of prescriptions in order of date processed, including refill logs </li><li>Audits prescriptions on a weekly basis </li><li>Maintains signatures from patients picking up their prescriptions </li><li>Maintains Medicare Fraud, Waste, and Abuse guidelines and procedures </li><li>Collects payments of copays from patients </li><li>Properly handle and dispose of hazardous drugs and waste materials following OSHA and NIOSH guidelines. </li><li>Plan, implement, or maintain procedures for missing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal. </li><li>Conduct routine medication inventories including monitoring for drugs expiring, and assist with inventory control of medications in the dispensary. </li><li>Assist in ordering supplies and medication. Receive and restock medications. </li><li>Maintain any necessary QA logs, including (but not limited to) temperature logs, waste logs, expired and destroyed medication logs, and others. </li><li>Participate in training and orientation of new employees as needed. </li><li>Comply with the Summit Medical Group incident reporting policy and procedures. </li><li>Adhere to all OSHA and Summit Medical Group training and accomplishments as required per policy. </li><li>Provide other job duties as assigned. </li><li>Report issues and concerns to supervising pharmacist and manager in a timely manner. </li></ul> <p>Physical / Mental Job Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Dexterity of hands and fingers </li><li>Endurance (e.g. continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking) </li><li>This position operates in a typical office environment, often in cubicles and shared space. The area is well-lit, temperature controlled and free from hazards. </li><li>Communicates frequently to person, via email, teleconference or telephone, with people in many various locations, on a variety of issues. </li><li>Manual dexterity is needed to operate a keyboard. </li><li>Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and/or in-person communication. </li></ul> <p>Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Batchelor's Degree </li><li>New Jersey Board of Pharmacy Technician registration </li><li>Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with PTCB </li><li>Minimum 5 years of retail experience or other applicable pharmacy experience </li><li>Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing </li><li>Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) </li><li>Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment </li><li>BLS Certification </li><li>Valid License </li></ul> <p>This is a non-exempt position. The base compensation range for this role is $30.00 to $33.00 per hour.
