<p>Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety Specialist</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The EH&S Specialist develops, implements, and maintains successful environmental and safety initiatives at our facilities. This key position demands creative problem-solving, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within the organization. The EH&S Specialist will be a team player as well as a change agent, leading by example and fostering safety as the highest priority in our culture and value system.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Promote Safety as the Number One Priority for all employees. </li><li>Provide daily support and guidance on safe work practices and proper PPE. </li><li>Ensure EH&S compliance audits are completed properly and timely. </li><li>Assist with safety committee initiatives and goals, driving participation and follow-up. </li><li>Perform incident/accident investigations, root cause analysis, and determination of corrective actions. </li><li>Ensure recommended corrective actions/preventative measures are completed in a timely manner. </li><li>Perform Industrial Hygiene monitoring for heat stress, air quality, and confined space atmospheric testing. </li><li>Perform ergonomic evaluations and recommendations. </li><li>Drive continuous improvement and ergonomics initiatives. </li><li>Prepare and maintain accurate site EH&S records and documentation, including tracking and reporting of safety statistics. </li><li>Perform safety and environmental training in accordance with established safety programs and policies. </li><li>Assist with incident investigations, root cause, and countermeasures. </li><li>Assist with machine reviews for lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and ergonomics. </li><li>Conduct visible opacity evaluation via EPA method 9 and 24. </li><li>Provide assistance and support to maintain compliance with OSHA, MassDEP, and EPA. </li><li>Manage the implementation of specialized programs to ensure facility compliance with hazard communication, hazardous waste minimization/elimination, storm water management, hazardous waste storage inspections, Spill Prevention, Countermeasures and Control Plan, VOC emission reporting, and chemical review and approval process. </li><li>Assist with blood-borne pathogen training, audiometric testing program, fall protection, confined space, respiratory protection, and ergonomic programs. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, Engineering or a closely related technical field. </li><li>2+ years of experience in an EH&S role. </li><li>Ability to command the room and be the Face of Safety. </li><li>Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. </li><li>Ability to take the lead on procedures. </li><li>Experience with lockout/tagout. </li><li>Experience with machine guarding. </li><li>Experience with Job Hazard Analysis. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, MassDEP, RCRA, Life Safety, EH&S, and Industrial Hygiene assessment methods. </li><li>Knowledge of machine safeguarding, electrical safety, chemical safety, and hazard communications. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The environmental health and safety team is made up of 4 employees. The team consists of a Director, a site manager, and one current EHS Specialist. The Director is very hands-on with a heavy focus on education.
