Discover your opportunities at Yale!</p> <p>Salary Range</p> <p>$79,700.00 - $124,025.00</p> <p>Overview The Cancer Outcomes, Public Policy and Effectiveness Research (COPPER) Center at Yale School of Medicine (copper.yale.edu) is a national leader in the field of cancer-related health services and outcomes research. The Center is comprised of researchers and clinicians across The Schools of Medicine and Public Health who collaborate on a variety of research projects involving both primary and secondary data, but all sharing a common theme: furthering our understanding of the benefits, risks, and costs of cancer screening and treatment. In addition to our strong record of research dissemination in peer-reviewed journals and at scientific conferences, COPPER research has been cited in insurer coverage decisions and medical society guidelines, and is often covered in the lay press. We are seeking a qualified and curious individual to join our team of 5 data analysts. If you are interested in conducting policy-relevant cancer research with a fun and collegial group of researchers at Yale, please read on and apply! This individual will be responsible for data management, statistical analysis, and project management for cancer-related health services and outcomes research studies at the Cancer Outcomes, Public Policy, and Effectiveness Research (COPPER) Center at Yale. The applicant will assist the Director and affiliated research faculty with statistical analysis using SAS for multiple studies, as well as with literature searching, grant-writing, and administrative tasks such as drafting progress reports and human subject protocols. Finally, the applicant will assist the study team with disseminating results, helping to prepare manuscripts and presentations. Required Skills and Abilities 1. Proven proficiency in biostatistics, constructing multivariable linear, logistic, and survival models. Ability to determine proper statistical approach for specific research questions and to learn new statistical methods as needed. 2. Ability to use SAS to manage complex databases, including administrative claims databases. Ability to investigate, analyze and evaluate complex statistical and programming problems using SAS or Stata. 3. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills and organization and planning skills. Ability to communicate regularly with diverse teams of internal and external research collaborators to maintain timeline and identify challenges to progress. 4. Ability to set priorities and work independently on multiple concurrent projects. Proven ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to completing research projects in a timely and appropriate manner. 5. Ability to participate in the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations, as well as to assist with ad hoc requests for a variety of research-related tasks, including literature searches and grant preparation.</p> <p>Principal Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Develops operational procedures for collection, editing, verification, and management of statistical data. 2. Develops and implements relevant statistical programs to incorporate data from multiple projects. 3. Designs comprehensive relational databases with working knowledge of the scientific applications impacting on the data analysis and reporting. 4. Assists faculty and other research professionals with the formulation and description of appropriate statistical methods. 5. Evaluates research studies and recommends statistical procedures to analyze the data. 6. Carries out comprehensive statistical analysis for a broad spectrum of types of data and types of studies. 7. Integrates the research methodologies of multiple projects into bio-statistical analyses. 8. Prepares reports summarizing the analysis of research data, interpreting the findings and providing conclusions and recommendations. 9. Presents talks, seminars, or other oral presentations on the methodology and analysis used in scientific studies. 10. Assists investigators in preparation of research grant applications by writing research methods sections pertaining to acquisition, analysis, relevance and validity of data. 11. Participates in the preparation of manuscripts that are submitted for peer reviewed publication. 12. May supervise and provide training for lower level or less experienced employees. 13. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or relevant field.
