<p>Overview</p> <p>Provides support with the daily actives of a medical office by performing the following duties and other duties as assigned. Work schedule is variable including days (majority), evenings and weekends. May be asked to work holidays and/or overtime.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Answer phones, takes and relays messages </li><li>Enters messages and prescription refills in the EPIC system </li><li>Reads and responds to Patient MyChart Messages </li><li>Sorts postal and interoffice mail for distribution </li><li>Makes appointments for patients </li><li>Checks in patients for appointments verifying and updating demographic, guarantor and insurance information </li><li>Registers new patients in our computer system </li><li>Works closely with Registration Specialists to ensure all patients have an accurate registration in the billing system </li><li>Collects co-payments and works with PFC's for self-pay payments as needed </li><li>Balances cash drawer and fills out the cash drawer logs </li><li>Work referral work queues to call patients and schedule appointments and link referrals to appointments </li><li>Makes public address and announcements as instructed </li><li>Pages personnel as necessary </li><li>Able to properly call in a 'Code' to switchboard and abled to announce 'Codes' properly while working in switchboard room and if an alarm sounds, the Switchboard Operator will immediately contact Mercyhealth East Administration. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Keyboarding efficiency at 35 wpm required. Computer knowledge preferred.
