<p>Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):</p> <p>Associate's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). One (1) year of experience working in a clean lab, particularly doing ion chromatography. Experience using a quadrupole mass spectrometer. Experience with data reduction.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Geosciences or a related field. Completed courses in Field Methods. Experience preparing samples for laser ablation and setting up runs.</p> <p>Brief Description of Duties:</p> <p>Working under the general supervision of the faculty Principal Investigator, the Research Technician will be responsible for setting up U-series dating at Stony Brook. This work will require making and calibrating standards and setting up the mass spectrometer for these measurements. Once the method is established, the technician will be responsible for processing carbonate samples for U-series dating.</p> <p>Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Sample preparation and chemistry in the clean lab. </li><li>Running samples and data reduction in the mass spectrometer lab. </li><li>Other duties or projects as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Special Notes:</p> <p>The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation.
