<p>The Veterans Affairs Services Advisor provides customer service to eligible veterans, civilians, military students, and family members applying for and receiving Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) GI Bill educational benefits, Tuition Assistance (TA) from agencies/enterprises, and Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) benefits with an emphasis on compliance with Veterans Affairs, Title IV, and state regulations, and adherence to University policies and procedures. This staff member also accepts responsibilities for interpreting, explaining, and analyzing VA policy and changes and evaluating and monitoring the student eligibility for benefits processing associated with this designation. Currently our Veteran or Veteran related student population is less than 100 students. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AS VA School Certifying Officer (SCO): Serves as the institution's Veterans Affairs School Certifying Officer (SCO) Access & Permissions to the Veterans Affairs on-line certification portal which includes successfully completing annual mandated web-based training exercises Accurate and timely electronic submissions to VA-ONCE for all eligible student certifications for VA Forms 22-1999, 22-1999b, 22-6553c, and 22-6553d Primary "record keeper" for all Veterans Affairs records and correspondences which includes creating and maintaining individual student paper files, collecting, and maintaining drop/add forms, etc. Timely and accurate submission to Veterans Affairs for newly approved Fisk University programs/majors Manage all duties and responsibilities tied to Veterans Affairs program administration. This includes creating and maintaining paper files, collecting documents, certifying benefits, posting VA awards, reconciling, maintaining the VA - Once database along with completing and submitting the 85-15 The designated "problem solver" between the VA recipient, their families and other student service areas, e.g., Registrar, Student Accounts, etc. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AS Transfer Students Coordinator Recruitment & Outreach Develop and implement targeted recruitment strategies to attract transfer students from community colleges, universities, and military-affiliated backgrounds. Build and maintain partnerships with transfer coordinators, advisors, and veterans' service offices at feeder institutions. Represent the university at transfer fairs, community college events, military base education fairs, and other recruitment activities. Coordinate campus visit programs tailored for prospective transfer students and veterans.</p> <p>Bachelor's degree required and a minimum of 2-3 years of higher education experience.</p>
