<p>The Student Assistant will work in a team environment with Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA). They will be given the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge of current technology and best practices as related to the archives field. This student should be interested in handling unique historical documents and/or working with imaging software and technology.</p> <p>As a project assistant, this individual will be given the opportunity to work with unique historical collections in one or more of the following ways:</p> <ul> <li>Scan documents, photographs, negatives </li><li>Transcribe and edit oral histories </li><li>Transcribe handwritten documents </li><li>Update documents and databases </li><li>Create descriptive data (metadata) for archival materials </li><li>Organize and describe archival materials </li><li>Digitize audio/visual formats </li><li>Help organize storage spaces </li><li>Provide reference and research assistance to patrons </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>The successful candidate will be self-motivated and willing to assist with other programs and activities taking place in the department.
