<p>PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Director of Oatland Island Educational Center is responsible for the operation of an environmental center which maintains large and small animal exhibits used in educational programs.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Office of College and Career Readiness</p> <p>SALARY SCHEDULE: Administration A-4</p> <p>WORK DAYS: 250</p> <p>REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ol> <li>Education Level: Master's degree in science education or related area </li></ol> <p>Preferred: Educational Leadership (P-12) certification on the fifth-year level as a minimum</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Experience, Skill, and Certification: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Applicants must have five years administrative experience within the past ten years </li><li>Prior experience with directing and coordinating science instructional programs </li><li>Knowledge of and experience with informal science education programs </li><li>Knowledge of curriculum development, supervision, administration, inquiry-based science instruction </li><li>Strong experience in budget preparation, grant-writing, supervision of programs and employees </li><li>Strong public relations skills; communications, and ability to work well with others in schools and the community </li><li>Eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Support Certificate </li></ul> <p>Preferred: Experience with care and maintenance of wildlife</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Directs and coordinates all aspects of the OIEC, including care and maintenance of captive wildlife. </li><li>Supervises the care and maintenance of the wildlife. </li><li>Directs and coordinates all aspects of OIEC programs: curriculum development incorporating state and national science standards, environmental awareness, indigenous animal studies, marine and marsh studies, and specialized ecosystems. </li><li>Investigates funding sources and writes grant applications for new programs and projects. </li><li>Supervises and coordinates the development of programs for utilization of OIEC by students and the general public. </li><li>Coordinates a public relations program to encourage public support for OIEC. </li><li>Directs and supervises OIEC maintenance, renovation, and building projects. </li><li>Plans and implements the budget for OIEC. </li><li>Plans and facilitates large, annual special events. </li><li>Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization. </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT</p> <p>Incumbents will be considered "at will." Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade as determined by Human Resources and allowable experience. This is a 250-day position.
