Conducts inspections of new construction, renovations, and repairs; prepares detailed inspection reports; and works closely with contractors and property owners to ensure corrective actions are taken when necessary.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Building Code Inspections: Inspect construction sites for compliance with building codes, structural integrity, and safety standards. </li><li>Permit and Documentation Review: Review and verify construction permit applications, plans, and specifications. </li><li>Field Reporting and Compliance: Complete inspection reports detailing findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions required. </li><li>Contractor Communication: Communicate with contractors, designers, and homeowners regarding inspection outcomes and required corrections. </li><li>Safety and Compliance Monitoring: Ensure jobsite safety and enforce adherence to local, state, and federal safety codes. </li><li>Report Preparation: Prepare and submit reports documenting inspections, code violations, and follow-up actions. </li><li>Permit Closure and Follow-up: Verify that corrections have been made and approve final inspection for permit closure. </li><li>Collaboration: Collaborate with other inspectors and engineers to ensure unified code enforcement. </li><li>Public Relations: Address inquiries and complaints from the public related to inspections and code enforcement. </li><li>Professional Development: Maintain current certifications and attend relevant training to stay up-to-date on code changes. </li><li>Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations such as storm damage or unsafe structures. </li><li>The individual in this role is expected to contribute to the team's efforts by completing other related tasks, as may be assigned. </li></ul> <p>Position Building Inspector Position Requirements</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - The following are the minimum education and experience required for the position. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.</p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>HS diploma or GED </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>4-5 years previous relevant work experience is required. </li></ul> <p>Special Experience</p> <ul> <li>Relevant experience in the building industry. </li></ul> <p>Training Requisites</p> <ul> <li>ICC Certification Courses </li></ul> <p>Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a certification as a residential or commercial inspector from the International Code Council or be able to obtain certification within an agreed upon time for continued employment. </li></ul> <p>Licensing</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a valid State Driver's License. </li></ul> <p>SUCCESS FRAMEWORK. The following list of knowledge, skills, and abilities have been identified by our team as building blocks towards efficiency and effectiveness in this role.</p> <p>Knowledge of building construction methods, materials, and codes.</p> <p>Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.</p> <p>Skill in conducting thorough field inspections.</p> <p>Ability to identify safety hazards and enforce compliance.</p> <p>Knowledge of state and local building inspection laws.</p> <p>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</p> <p>Proficiency with inspection software and Microsoft Office.</p> <p>Ability to manage workload and prioritize inspection schedules.</p> <p>Knowledge of occupational safety and health practices.</p> <p>Ability to prepare detailed inspection and compliance reports.</p> <p>Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.</p> <p>Ability to interpret and enforce regulatory codes.</p> <p>Knowledge of recordkeeping and inspection documentation systems.</p> <p>Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.</p> <p>Commitment to ensuring safety, quality, and code compliance.</p> <p>EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.</p> <p>Computer; Microsoft 365; permitting and code enfocment software; mobile inspection software; GIS; Tape measure, Levels, Moisture meter, Smoke detector tester, Vehicle, Two-way radio, Mobile phone, Digital camera, Safety gear (hard hat, vest, boots).digital camera; vehicle; measuring tools; communication radio.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.</p> <ul> <li>Combination of office and fieldwork.
