We provide human services programs that are intended to promote the health, well-being, self-sufficiency and protection of families, children and adults within our community.</p> <p> </p> <p>Johnston County Department of Social Services has immediate openings for an Income Maintenance Caseworker II in the Medicaid Unit.</p> <p>Please Note: Johnston County DSS will accept Work Against candidates if fully qualified applicants are not located, salary for work against candidates will be determined and discussed with Human Resources at time of offer.The primary purpose of this position is to process or re-determine eligibility for Medicaid recipients.</p> <p>This position obtains all necessary third party verifications and communicates with the Medicaid recipient in order to obtain all information necessary to determine or re-determine eligibility.</p> <p>This position is also responsible for completing necessary certification & recertification in the NC FAST system to ensure timely benefits are issued to the recipient upon completion of the certification or recertification process.</p> <ul> <li>Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment.  </li><li>General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. </li><li>Good knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. </li><li>Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. </li><li>Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations and procedures. </li><li>Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations and procedures. </li><li>Ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower level employees. </li><li>Ability to perform casework functions with structured time frames. </li></ul> <p>One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker I.</p> <ul> <li>Will accept the following qualifications as a work-against* </li></ul> <p>Graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.</p> <ul> <li>Please document all work history relevant to the position for which you are applying.
